It was the savage blow to the side of his head that had felled him low. The General had immediately taken off for the north as soon as night had fallen, hoping to perhaps catch a glimpse of what lay behind it, but never had he expected such a swarm of creatures to boil out of the jungle.

They had overrun him, no matter how many he decapitated. Here again, a painful and deadly reminder of his humanity. How he loathed it...

But one of the larger Bugganes, probably elder than the others, had approached the SOLDIER from behind and savagely clubbed him with a massive fist, adding to the searing pain a close encounter with a few Leucrota had left, a bleeding gash several inches deep and nearly a foot long decorating his side.

Sephiroth had dropped like a rock.

But consciousness was slowly returning and he blinked open glazed eyes, awakening to the sound of Dante's thunderous guns, blasting cannons behind his brain and Angeal's voice, bringing him back from oblivion, a sure lifeline if one ever existed.

She probably shouldn't have; No, Cissnei knew that running out into this was probably one of the stupidest things she had ever done, and that Veld would flay her if he ever found out about it. But Dante had called out for help, and she was aware that there were only a few fighters on the Island, and some of those had to stay behind and protect what had become their base while they tried to survive this night.

But all the same, she had made a promise that she would come to others when they needed aid, and that time was now. This wasn't ShinRa, she didn't have any masters that held her leash like the attack dog she was raised to be. No, she had gain much on these long months in this place.

Things like friends, like Mimi. Things like freedom, with how she chose to spend her time. She can see the two of the three on the beach, Dante with his guns blazing and Angeal seemingly everywhere. Her own shuriken cut into Mandrakes even though she knew it would only temporarily slow them down. But that was what she was aiming for. Being small, ( ... )

"Cissnei!", Dante bellowed back, ducking one of Angeal's wild sword swings. He sidestepped and shoved Ebony into the mouth of a charging Buggane and pulled the trigger, closing his eyes and turning his head from the spray of blood and brains that went flying as the body fell.

He could see the General stirring out of the corner of his eye and danced back to keep the man clear of the attacking creatures. He wanted to tell Sephiroth just to stay the fuck down, but figured that wouldn't really go over very well. The devil hunter really didn't want that huge assed sword heading for his ass, thanks.

"Cover him!" he yelled to the small redhead, wishing to God they could thin out these ever-increasing ranks of suckheads and get a break to get clear!

She didn't respond past that once given orders, ignoring the pain in her arm from the injury she had received rescuing Zack as she threw her shuriken ahead of her to clear a path as much as she could, hand already reaching for her holstered gun as she used a Leucrota struggling to stand as a springboard to get off the ground, putting a bullet into it for good measure to make sure it stayed down, the bastard.

The less magic she had to use the better it would be for the General she fought her way to now, landing not too far away from the silver haired man as she caught her Rekka on the rebound soundly in one gloved hand before she turned to look at him. Thank the gods the shops carried them or else her hands would of been mangled. "General Sephiroth!"

A flame like legendary dragon's breath roared from somewhere behind the piling ranks of starving beasts, casting a plume of orange into the sky as it lit fur and melted skin. With the sound of destruction and the howls of pain came a cry of rage, of bloodlust and the need for mutilation.

Revy shrieked her vengeance and spun on approaching monsters with an arc of constant flame. She hadn't spoken with many since her return, hadn't gone out into resort to mingle or enjoy anyone or anything. Hell, she hadn't even looked at the bucket of candy left with her name on it.

But she hadn't sunk into useless depression, either.

The famed "Two Hands" was without bullets, but be damned if she'd be without a weapon altogether. And not just a weapon, no small blade or metal pipe. No, Revy had planned to inflict a motherfucking load of pain, and so capitalized on Dean's idea of an aerosol flamethrower ( ... )
