http://www.grandeabsente.com/ is pretty good. Available in the US and in NH at least comparably priced to Lucid. Grande Absente tastes better, but doesn't louche as well.

I saw that one as well. I may be incorrect but isn't that the same company that makes the regular Absente? (the absinthe refined crap?) I didn't even give it a thought because I refuse to buy anything from the Absente company even if they producing an absinthe.

I think it is. The packaging is similar.

The good news, is that where Absente is "Absinthe Refined" - with southernwood - Grande Absente is the real thing with wormwood.

I'll vouch that Grande Absente is quite nice. I've tried it beside Lucid, and you can tell the difference. Lucid is thicker, sweeter, and tastes more earthy, like angelica. GA is lighter, more sharp, and IMO more delicious.

Thanks, how is the St George?

And is that Jade Liqueurs Vieux Carre? Guessing not for such a cheap price.

If you haven't tried the kubler, it is less anise flavored than lucid.

Pernod was one of the more popular brands of absinthe post-ban.

Read some reviews of its latest incarnation here: http://www.feeverte.net/guide/country/france/pernod_68_aux_extrait_dabsinth/#more

The modern Pernod company has no connection to the old company and the modern version of the absinthe is nothing like the old brand.
