She's coming for you. )
Never in his life did he think a little girl could look so utterly menacing. Even in the dim light, Stein could tell that she had a rather angry look on her face and there was something very wrong with the state of her soul.
But maybe he was just imagining that look of rust and grime around her, and he sighed, hoping that he could keep himself calm and keep the twinge of fear out of his voice. "Alessa, if this is about Darc, I can guarantee he's fine."

But at the same time, he wasn't about to go out without a fight and let this thing eat him or tear him apart or whatever the hell, and he did what he could to attack it despite the obvious handicap of his lack of vision.

It kept groaning, some of the moans getting choked off by sobs of pain. Then there were more groans, coming from all around him.
Freezing hands grasped everywhere, clenching his clothes in their fists and trying to drag him deeper in the darkness.

He barely put up a fight, instead deciding he could - and would - attack when he learned more about these things. They didn't seem to be particularly aggressive for the moment, at least. They almost seemed more like they were interested in taking him somewhere more than they were just trying to scare him.
And damn if he was going to let some little girl scare him like this. Stein halfheartedly dug his heels into the floor to slow them down.

Scrabbling hands, trying to tear him apart. Teeth. Bites. They were either trying to rip him open or eat him.

"Professor..."
"Professor..."
"Professor..."
All of them. One by one. Whispering with familiar voices.

He kept fighting back, ignoring those pitiful whispers of theirs, telling himself over and over and over again that this was just someone fucking with him. Another experiment, or maybe just Alessa's idea of payback. He didn't know, and he didn't care, he just knew it couldn't be real.

"Professor..."
There was a glimmer of something sharp in the darkness.
That something sharp went right for his gut.

He could see his attackers. His dead students, some of them with their entrails still hanging out of their separate dissections.

He could still feel the heat on his back and he spared the ground a moment's glance before going back to defending himself, still clutching the wound on his chest. He was not dying here, no chance.

While the other students were grappling with his clothes and body, trying to pull him to the smoldering ground, one female student, her face in shadow, took a gasping breath, her visible lung inflating jerkily, but she had to try over and over before she could inhale enough to breathe out, "Why...?"
She couldn't say anything else. Her lung convulsed, a violent coughing fit rattling her dead ribcage, so hard that she fell to her knees, but the students still pulling him finished her statement for her.
"Why did you do this to us?"

Right?
Even still, he couldn't help but reach out to the first girl, trying to help her back up despite being dragged around. "I didn't mean to," Stein whispered, trying to ignore the way his voice cracked. "I'm sure I didn't..."

But the girl, her movements jerky and weak, grabbed his hands in a vice grip, her legs trembling as she began to stand again. The coughs subsided for a moment, leaving her taking painfully raw breaths, and she pulled his hand to her stomach, letting his fingers rest against the gaping dissection wounds and the cold blood that leaked sluggishly forth.
"Didn't mean to do..."
Her lung convulsed. She started coughing again. More blood sprinkled his sleeve.
"THIS?"

He really needed to get the hell out of here.
"You kids... You mean the world to me. I wouldn't do his to you purposefully. I swear it," Stein murmured softly, not paying all that much attention to the way his eyes were welling up with tears at this point.
