Everybody's working for the weekend!

I'm currently halfway through The Deeper Meaning of Liff, which is like my favorite new thing. For those not in the know, it's "a dictionary of things there aren't any words for yet", by Douglas Adams and John Lloyd. All words are really geographical places. ( My favorites so far... )

tv: my boys, tv: life, kiva, tv: sarah connor chronicles, language, tv: better off ted, books

I totally used to own that book! It was given to me about 15 years ago for my birthday and I loved it a lot and then someone nicked it and then I forgot all about it and then I read this post and remembered that I used to own it and love it and now I feel bitter!

It's such a perfect way to spend a few minutes (that's about all the time I can devote to it at a time - I have to digest all the new words).

I agree with you completely on Terminator. Last year I was watching because I like the lead actresses but if I hadn't been using it as distraction during data entry, I would have dropped it. Then the beginning of season 2, I just started to like and care about the characters. One of my friends wants more plot, less character, but I watch it now for anything about Sarah's character, and any hints about the John/Cameron relationship mainly. Unfortunately, I've been hearing hints that if they do renew due to the film, they might be "retooling" to go along with that. And since this season worked so well for me, I'm worried about what that might mean for my interested next year.

I've been thinking about what it is that I like about it so much, and for me, it is the plot, by and large, and how the characters interact during that plot. Or maybe it's because I don't have overwhelming love for any one character (like I usually do), and enjoy the ensemble - possibly with a few favorites - that I think it's the plot that's the driving force for me? I mean, it usually isn't, so it feels weird.

I love that someone even came up with the idea. And then to have the words be both useful and extremely funny is just icing on the cake.

Ooh, I remember holding The Meaning of Liff in my hand but deciding I wouldn't buy it just right then. Of your examples, my favourite is deventer. WHEE!

*skips spoilers*

Would love to help others, but realistically, must be able to support self first. I know what you mean about patriotism. *g*

The words are so relatable, that's the key thing. Some of them go right over my head because they're part of the British experience, but most words have a universal application.

Well, yeah, of course. Grrr, I can't believe those Norwegians are beating us by so much!

This entire season of T:SCC has been great. Episode 2x13 had a big cliffhanger followed by a looong hiatus, so it's great that you can plow all the way through in one shot. :)

This whole PJ/Bobby thing isn't working for me, and it's kinda ruining my enjoyment of the entire show.

I still can't figure out what was supposedly so great about them the first time that they keep trying to put them together. It seemed like such water under the bridge. It's a shame because I really do like the rapport between the guys and the girls' friendship.

I feel like Brendan's the only guy within the group she's had romantic chemistry with, so if they want to put her in a long-term dance with another guy, I'd rather have it be someone from outside the group. Otherwise, I feel like Andy in wanting everyone to just STFU about it.

It's great to be able to marathon the show, because I think that's at least part of the reason I've been so sucked in, but at the same time, I've had to ration myself because I'm just plowing through them. Today, I've played Super Mario Galaxy for HOURS to prevent myself from just devouring the last four episode. Due to my gaming breaks, I've still got two episodes to go, but I do think I'll polish off the season tonight.

I agree, there's no chemistry. I think part of the reason is that Bobby is completely asexual to me, and another part is that I feel like PJ responds to him as if he's asexual to her too. It's just badness all around. And even if they break them up, putting her and Brando together would just make the group dynamics so incestuous and it feels like they're ruining everything with this storyline!
