VM 3x06

I kind of hate the Yes-TV capping group with every fiber of my being right now because they released the episode with the wrong aspect ratio! Something I didn't realize until I had finished my picspam because it wasn't noticeable enough. I had to do a comparison on the CW logo to ascertain that it was really the aspect ratio, and not some kind of ( Read more... )

That sucks about the aspect ratio! As if these things don't take long enough as it is!

The less said about this entire thing, the better. But I gotta say, the writers know fuck-all about women or feminism if they think that's an accurate portrayal of either.

Honestly, I don't know how this portrayal ever got the red light. From anyone, let alone the people who came up with it.

Was I the only thinking they were laying the groundwork for an affair between Wallace and the Dean's wife here? Probably, huh?Me too! I really hope not, but there was definitely some weirdness there that I couldn't place ( ... )

Yeah, and the worst part was not even realizing until I'd uploaded everything to vm-caps AND my Scrapbook. That's when I noticed that the file size wasn't the usual so I spent at least a half-hour trying to figure out if there even was an aspect ratio problem because I couldn't tell when they all had the same problem. Grrrr!

I think that Veronica herself embodies feminist ideals, but whatever gave them the idea that anyone was like the "feminists" on this show? They're such caricatures it's not even funny. Especially considering it's still a touchy subject.

There was too much eye-contact! And then someone said they had a feeling one of the other mysteries might involve her and I thought "oh, that's why they're hooking her and Wallace up". Even if I don't know if any of that is true.

I had this moment while I was watching the episode where I realized Logan was generally in a good place in my life, and it made me really happy. His life? Because if so, I agree. To an extent. I think that's been a part of the reason people have been ( ... )

Another pretty picspam, yay!
I must admit I'm old skool hatin Piz but he's getting worse. The thing that really bothers me is you can totally see them setting these two up. I know she said it was because she was having flashbacks that she didn't want to ask Piz about Parker but I kinda got the impression (I've only watched it once so I could be wrong) that they were trying to make it more about her kinda liking him and being kinda jealous of Parker. I could be totally off with that but I really really really don't want this to happen. And asking her out when he knew she had a boyfriend, ass!

I had vague feelings of that too, but in the scene in the bowling alley. Not jealousy per se, but more like...interest. It just felt off to me, that whole talk with Parker.

Yeah, it was very much like something you'd see when a girl likes a guy but doesn't admit to it and then her friend says she likes him and the girls all with the "oh I haven't noticed how cute he is (but really I have)" kinda thing. Except for the fact that she's never really shown any interest before and has only really talked to him about twice (ok thats not true but you get the point). It all seems very forced to me. I just hate it!!!!

Mmh. Pretty!

Nope, definitely not the only one.

There were hardly any VM posts on my flist after this episode (everyone was busy with the election, I gather), but I didn't see anyone mention it and I thought it was pretty blatant.

I'm still hoping for the feminists to show that they're contrite and for them to start opening up a dialogue, but the truth is that I already know it's a lost cause, I can't imagine them actually thinking of that kind of nuance in the writers room.

My issue with Keith is -- ur, hi, his CAR JUST GOT TOTALLED
I can sort of see the epiphany he had when he did almost die and regretted not being with her, especially considering he wasn't hurt. It's the lack of thought of what the consequences are that bug me. Still.

but I would MUCH RATHER have seen him asking Wallace about her than seeing him actively try and ask her out on a bowling date and then get all ridiculous and pouty when it didn't work out. I mean, wtf is this?
Yes, exactly. This way he just comes off as being all sleazy and trying to break them up. What the hell? I'm supposed to like this guy, right?

but the basic idea of "YOU DO NOT TRUST ME, VERONICA MARS" is still there.I'm still pondering over the question "what exactly does he expect her to do when he's tied her hands ( ... )

Nope! I had that thought too. Especially since it seems pretty likely she's the "dean's wife" that Chip slept with last year to get all those points.

but would they really let him keep a basketball scholarship if he chooses not to play

Others have already answered but, no, they wouldn't let him keep it. However, he didn't choose not to play, he chose not to start. He's still on the team and he'll play if someone else is sucking majorly or injured. Both things are very unlikely in college ball which is why the coach was making sure he was sure that's what he wanted to do. I'm not clear if the scholarship could get taken away for him refusing to start. I suppose the coach could technically ask him to leave the team for that decision and that would mean losing the scholarship? I hand-waved it because they made it clear he's still on the team and just not playing which would be true for most freshmen anyway.

Several people saw it. Glad I wasn't the only one!

I thought he said he needed the semester off? Doesn't that imply that he won't be playing or practicing at all? Or is there an off season in basketball that I'm not taking into account here?
