Congrats!

The RT talk is interesting to me, and I agree completely on what hooks me on a show. That said, I really do think he needs to be in a different position on the show. There's just... something about his attitude bothers me. In the same way AS-P grew to bother me. You shouldn't write your show for the fans but what they think of it should matter. Yeah, it sucks if you have to change what your original game plan and vision of your show was but if the characters are developing in one way and the fans are loving it? Play to it. I jsut get this INSANE high and mighty vibe off of him where he seems unwilling to even entertain the notion that things that have happened were less than perfect. And, like, I know there's disagreements. Ausiello touts Donut Run as his favourite episode of the series and I couldn't agree less, but the fact remains that RT seems to want to focus on a type of story that his fans just aren't that into.

Blah.

You know what? If you have A VISION, go make *movies*. Because those are one-shot and there's not the wiggle room of a 22-hour/year storyline that's gonna be DISCUSSED TO DEATH by adoring fans ( ... )

And, you know. For all the shit RT talks about his time on Dawson's Creek, he's doing the.exact.same.thing that got Kevin Williamson fired from that show: sticking to his "vision" despite the majority of the critics/audience disagreeing with him.

That is the truest statement I've heard in a long time. Seriously.

totally OT, do you know what Berlanti's up to these days? He left Everwood for jack & Bobby and we all know how THAT ended up... and Rina Mimoun is still show runner on Everwood, so...

Apparently Berlanti is directing a movie [romantic comedy, I think] he wrote. It's supposed to be a J.Lo vehicle. Yeah. GROAN.

oh, and I got so wrapped up in my other comment I forgot to mention anything else in your post. I mentioned this briefly when we were discussing it, but if Pam marries Roy? that ruins it for me. Like, staying with him is one thing but to marry him? There's no way I could support her and Jim in the future come divorce or whatever if she actually goes through with the wedding ( ... )

I can see it working if her realization that the marriage isn't working has absolutely nothing to do with her feelings for Jim. But then again, I'm not exactly dying to see a whole season of Pam and Roy, with Jim on the sideline looking on.

I can totally see Angela, in a moment of kindness, saying something to Pam because this week she kinda realized how much Pam has been covering for her with the Dwight thing
Oh, I like this. Jim goes off to Australia. Angela clues Pam in and Pam cancels the wedding. And then Jim returns, girlfriend in tow. That works.

as creepy as it is to think of Dwight and Angela post-coital, they've GOT to talk about the office and Dwight knows more than anyone how Jim feels about Pam.
Okay, eeeewwwwww! *grabs bleach, scrubs brain*

This sailboat is huuuuuge. Actually, it's 49 feet, but it still feels luxurious as hell, which is why it's really no hardship to go sailing for weeks on end.

Really? I'd love to hear why you think that -- I tend to think both Jim and Dwight are very oblivious about each other's love lives, as witnessed by the fact that Jim still has no idea about Angela. Like, they don't interact with each other on that level, they're too busy with the elementary school pranks part of their relationship. But it's entirely possible I'm forgetting something.

I was thinking the same thing.

I hope you do get a chance to go on your sailing trip.

And VM Caps is such a great site. You have a fantastic eye for capping.

Me too!

I'm happy so many people get some enjoyment out of the caps. I can't wait for the season 2 DVDs so I can get some "real" caps up on the site (and in the process lose all those views. Hee!)

I agree with you about VM. RT fired= no, problems fixed= yes.

On the sailing part, I love to sail. I've sailed Lake Superior (my first), Lake Michigan , BVI, and Abaco Sound in the Bahamas. My dream sail trip is Alaska.

For me, I always say it makes me feel alive. I notice things that I never would in daily life like the way the air feels and smells. the food tastes better, even when it's a ham sandwich on soggy bread. There is something truly magical about sitting on a deserted beach at sunset with your boat bobbing at anchor.

I think the thing people are saying is that maybe RT doesn't see these things as problems, which would make it a huge issue. I just don't see how he can't NOT know that this season has been badly handled. The ratings have even dropped from season 1, if I'm not mistaken, and we really didn't need that. I just hope we get a season 3 so there's time to see if they are capable of great TV or if season 1 was just a fluke.

I've mostly just gone sailing in the Swedish and Finnish archipelagoes. I'd love to go sailing in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. The Greek islands would be perfect. I've been to a few, but island hopping down there would probably be an unforgettable experience.

Surfing by on friendsfriends 'cause I'm desperate for Office talk. My best guess is that Jim will leave -- for the summer, and maybe the first one or two episodes of the next season, and then something will make him come back. That way he takes himself out of the mix in a way that I think will shake things up interestingly, but the show doesn't really go on without him. (And if he was gone for a little while, maybe the cameras would show him in his new job? They followed him to the interview, anyway ( ... )

Yeah, I definitely think Jim will leave, but will he just go on that vacation to Australia or will he actually take the job at the other branch? I can see him being gone for a few episodes, working at that other branch, but I can't really see him returning for any other reason besides Pam, which would push up the time table on that relationship, and I think they're trying to draw it out for as long as possible.

I hope you're right that Pam doesn't get married. I think I'm pretty much hoping for a huge fight in the finale, after which Jim leaves for Australia.

Monica and Chandler sneaking around are my favorite episodes of Friends.
Mine too!

I think if it were Jim and Pam it would be so hot I would EXPLODE.
I wholeheartedly agree. I kinda need to see this now.

Hmmm. Since he's still with Dunder Mifflin could there be company shenanigans that get him transferred back, against his will? (Or -- the company could do it but maybe he'd be okay with it if he heard Pam hadn't gotten married?) That seems awfully harsh, though, after he's taken steps to change his life like that. (Which I ultimately think is a good thing, him taking a long hard look at what he's doing, and why, and getting himself out of this situation where he just messes with Dwight and has this whole codependent thing with Pam.)

I'm seeing people speculate that they might kiss in the finale and then he'd leave, which would be GREAT.

Monica and Chandler sneaking around, oh man! Also Willow and Xander in season three of Buffy. It's like french farce meets the hottest thing in the WORLD.

I was just "stream of conscience"-responding to a comment below, and I think I came up with a pretty good reason for Jim to return. In the original show there is a merger between two branches. One of the bosses is promoted and moves up to corporate, while the remaining boss (the loser, basically. Which we all know describes Michael perfectly) becomes the boss over the two merged divisions.

The season did start with a kiss, so ending it with one would be awesome. Also? Pretty screencaps for all! And Jim kind of needs to leave at this point. His life is way too wrapped up in Pam, he needs to try to make a life for himself.

I wasn't that into Willow and Xander, but the sneaking around part was definitely the best part about them as a couple. =)
