See! I don't understand! I wouldn't even think of Ataraxia and Black Tape as playing in the same league.
I take the point that I might have become chill-blind over the years. I know there are things I find gripping now that I thought were unbearable boring ten years ago. Maybe Ataraxia has a boring property that I'm unable to see.
I can't imagine describing Ataraxia as upbeat! So it makes sense that they don't spark your kindling.
I still think they're under-performing their potential among the set that isn't all into memorable hooks, lyrics, or dance-able beats :)
It is interesting to me the different ways in which our tastes have changed over the years. It seems like your locus of core interests has shifted a fair amount. I feel like my circle of interests has expanded a whole lot, but it's still basically centered in the same place it was 15 years ago. (A bit to the left of Unknown Pleasures?)
