[I apoligise in advance, this is bad, even for me. It was a cute little idea and I think I killed it. Just use your imagination lots because I was too tired to make it fluffier or even well-written.]
Ladies and gentlemen, for your amusement between chapters, I present to you:
Bam’s eyes grew wide as he stared at the images on the screen in front of him. He mumbled something that sounded a little bit like “no, not in there, don’t go in there, idiot” and pulled the cushion up to just below his eye-level. He was thankful that everyone had gone out partying or straight to bed tonight. Ville had been jetlagged after a few flights (there had been some kind of delay or cancellation or something) and the house was silent… except for the television that was in front of him, and the mumbling noises he made every now and then.
He screwed his eyes up tight as he could feel a scary bit coming on, but morbid curiosity slowly made them open again. As they opened, he felt something tickle his nose. His eyes shot open...
Ville’s eyes shot open and he sat up in the darkness. He was sure he had just heard Bam scream. At this time? What could be wrong? What had happened? Was Bam hurt?
Within seconds he had leapt to his feet and pulled on a pair of trousers hastily, before sprinting downstairs (almost tripping on the way) to the living room. He shoved the door open and burst into the room to see Bam standing with his back against the wall, moaning, whimpering, shaking and wringing his hands as though there was something disgusting on them. His eyes darted to where Ville stood and a pleading look appeared on his face.
Ville glanced at the television and laughed, half with relief, half with sheer amusement.
“Who’s been sneaking into my bag and watching my horror movies, then? I told you not to do that, after what happened last time.” He giggled.
Bam shook his head and whispered, “Not that.”
“What is it, then?”
Slowly, Bam raised his arm, zombie-like, to point at the spot on the sofa where his eyes had been fixed before Ville had burst in.
“Bam, it’s a cushion.” Ville stated simply, “I know the movies mess with your head, but - ”
“Not the cushion!” Bam moaned, “On the cushion!”
It took Ville’s eyes a few seconds to adjust to the dim light of the TV before he spotted it.
“Oh…” he whispered, and the corners of his mouth twitched.
“It’s not funny!” Bam sulked, “I can’t help it!”
Ville giggled and walked over to the sofa, where he knelt beside the cushion.
“Hello, there.” he said softly, and he reached out to the cushion.
Bam shrieked.
“Bam, stop being such a baby.” Ville said, laughing, “It’s only a little spider.”
“LITTLE? Little? Ville, it’s a monster!” Bam said, still stubbornly refusing to remove his back from the wall and still wringing his hands desperately.
“Hello, Miss Spider.” Ville said happily, “I think it’s time for you to leave, I’m afraid. My friend here is a bit of a girl, you see.”
“Shut up Ville! I told you, I can’t help it!”
Ville giggled and reached out for the spider again. It made to crawl away from his hand but he brought his left hand round to trap it. Its legs brushed against his fingers, and it climbed onto his right hand.
“There’s a girl,” he whispered, “wow, look at the colours on this one!”
“I don’t want to!” Bam said, “Ville, just put it out the window or something…”
“Oh, but you have to!” exclaimed Ville, his eyes twinkling mischievously, “Just look!”
“Don’t you dare!” Bam said as Ville stood up, still watching the spider intently as it sat on the palm of his hand, “Don’t Vil’, I’m serious I’ll… I’ll kick your ass, I’m not joking! Ville DON’T!”
But Ville wasn’t listening, and he continued to walk towards Bam casually. Bam backed away and found himself trapped in the corner. He took to pleading and squirming.
“Please, don’t bring it here. Come on, man, you know how scared I am of those things. Ville! Stop it! It’s not funny anymore!” he begged.
Ville stopped as the spider started to crawl about, darting between his fingers.
“Oh, all right.” he said calmly, “Hey, calm down sweetheart, I’m not going to squish you! Bam, go open the door or something.”
Five minutes later, and a trembling Bam sat beside a very amused Ville as they watched the horror movie together. Bam didn’t have a cushion to hide behind anymore, and was becoming more and more fidgety as the movie went on.
“Oh God, I hate this bit.” Bam muttered.
“You haven’t seen it before, Bammie.”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t stop me hating this bit.”
“If you hate this bit you should see what happens next” Ville said, barely concealing a smirk.
“Why?” Bam looked at him, wide-eyed, “What happens next?”
“Well,” said Ville, “if I told you, that’d spoil it, wouldn’t it?”
Bam looked back at the screen and whispered, “Maybe… maybe we should watch something else, then.”
Ville grinned evilly, but said nothing. A few minutes passed.
“Oh, you’re really going to hate the next bit, dear Bam.”
“Ville, quit it.”
“But there’s spiders involved.”
“Ville, shut up!”
Bam punched Ville on the arm and glared at him. Ville couldn’t help but smile, Bam was so bad at being angry.
“Just quit it!” Bam said, “I can’t help it if I’m scared, stop being such… such a…”
“Such a what?”
“Such a big bully!”
Ville laughed. Bam scowled.
“You think it’s so funny?” Bam said, “Well guess what, Mige told me your weakness, too.”
“And what might that be?” Ville asked.
Bam grinned, but didn’t reply. He turned back to the television. Ville watched him for a few seconds. He had stopped laughing now, Bam had actually managed to freak him out a little, but he would never dream of letting him know that. As the minutes passed, Ville couldn’t stop thinking about what Bam had just said.
My weakness? What weakness? I don’t have any… What would Mige say?
A few more minutes passed in uncomfortable silence as several people were slaughtered onscreen. Neither Bam nor Ville were really paying much attention to the movie anymore. Bam’s smug little smile was disconcerting.
“Alright, what weakness?” Ville burst out, after “watching” a half-naked, bloody woman stumble through a large forest for a few seconds.
Bam turned back to him, “What was that?”
“You know what I’m talking about! What did Mige say was my weakness?”
“Say please.”
“What? Oh, fine, please.”
“Now say I’m sorry.”
“What?”
“Say, ‘Bam, I’m sorry for making fun of your phobia of spiders. It was a bad thing to do and I am a big fat bully.’”
“Bam!” Ville hissed, “Just tell me!”
“Ah! What was that?”
Ville grit his teeth and glared.
“Bam, I’m sorry for making fun of your phobia of spiders,” he said through clenched teeth.
“And?”
“And, it was a bad thing to do…”
“And?”
Ville sighed, “And I’m a big… fat… bully. Happy now? So, tell me!”
“Well…” Bam said.
Before Ville could even think about reacting, Bam had jumped on top of Ville and had pinned down Ville’s right arm with his left. With his right hand, Bam started tickling Ville’s neck. Ville made a noise somewhere between a gasp and a shriek and thrashed out madly at Bam.
“Ahahaha, Bam, stop!”
Bam grinned and continued his merciless tickling of Ville. Ville managed to temporarily evade Bam’s reach by sliding to the floor, but as soon as he began to sit up Bam was on him again, and they were rolling about together, laughing, giggling and cursing. Eventually, Bam managed to pin Ville down on the floor with his arms by his sides, using his knees.
“Oh, and Mige told me that if I do this” Bam said, and he began to poke Ville’s sides.
Ville shrieked and started going “Owowow, stopitstopitstopit!” before shrieking and laughing insanely.
“…you do that.”
Bam stopped momentarily and Ville glared at him. Bam stuck his tongue out.
“I hope you know this is very undignified.” Ville commented.
“You love it, really.”
Ville wrinkled up his face and stuck out his tongue at Bam, “I bet this was your little plan, eh? You just wanted to get on top of me.”
“Oh, of course.” Bam said, “My plan has been discovered! Unfortunately for you, Mr. Valo, you are too late to do anything about it!”
He gave Ville’s ribs a little poke and giggled.
“Oh no!” Ville said with a false gasp, “I feel so helpless and vulnerable! I have been thwarted by the infamous Bam Margera!”
“And you know it.” Bam said with a grin.
There was a quiet pause in which Ville managed to wriggle his arms free. Bam spotted this just in time and leant forward to pin them down with his own.
“Ah, there is no escape, it would appear.” Ville said, “How very cunning of you.”
Their faces were quite close now, Bam noted, kind of too close, in a way. He felt a bit strange, suddenly, as though he might fall, like Ville’s eyes were pulling him closer. He’d never noticed just how soft-looking Ville’s lips were before, or how smooth the skin on his thin, pale face was… maybe he could take a closer look…
Their lips met, and Bam felt a jolt of feeling rush through him. He sat back quickly, startled by what had just happened. What was he doing? Ville’s eyes fluttered open and he stared at Bam.
“I… uh…” Bam said, but Ville said nothing.
It had felt quite good, actually. It had been so sudden but now that it was over, well, he sort of felt like he wanted more… Bam had been expecting a telling off, or a yell or something but… Was Ville smiling?
“Umm…” Bam said and then he giggled nervously, licking his lips.
Before another word could be said Bam had leant forward again, closing his eyes and letting his lips brush off Ville’s. He could smell alcohol and cigarette smoke, and Ville’s lips were warm and soft. He felt another nervous giggle come on as he pressed a little harder and felt Ville’s mouth open slightly. Ville was letting him do it, he was letting Bam kiss him!
Bam brought his hand up to the side of Ville’s face and stroked the smooth skin there… and still, Ville was letting him do it! Bam could hardly believe it! He was doing what so many people could only dream of! Ville sucked on Bam’s top lip and smiled a little against Bam’s lips. Bam was smiling a little, too. He giggled nervously again and sat up, eyes still half shut. Ville bought his free hand up to the side of Bam’s face and pulled him in closer again.
“Dude, look, I told you! I told you they were kissing!” DiCo whispered excitedly from the doorway as he tugged at his friend’s arm.
The flickering pale blue light of the television was the only thing that illuminated the strangely positioned figures of Bam and Ville. The television was muffled, just enough to keep the kissing pair from hearing their observers.
“Whoa, that’s… Dude… It’s so weird.” Ryan said quietly.
“I know.” DiCo replied, “I just… wow.”
“Tell me about it.” Another voice added.
“Who’s that?”
“It’s Johnny.”
“And Steve-O.”
“Ugh, what the Hell?” another voice hissed.
“Who’s that?”
“Dude, what the fuck is Vil’ doing kissing my brother?”
“Jess?”
“Yeah?”
“I think you’re standing on my foot.”
“How many of us are here?” DiCo asked.
“Uhh, a good six or seven, by the looks of things, but I think there’s more coming.” Ryan said.
“I think a better question would be then, who’s not here right now?”
“Uhh…. Mige and Linde and those other Finnish guys.”
“No, we’re here.” said a couple more voices.
“Er… I guess just Ape and Phil, then.”
They went back to watching the kissing couple. Bam sat up and got off Ville. They moved to the sofa, where Ville wrapped his arms around Bam and they sat there.
“Shh, I think he’s gonna say something!” Ryan hissed.
Ville’s voice drifted over, quiet but clear, “I never knew… I always thought you just thought of me as a friend.”
“I did.” Bam replied, “I guess I didn’t see just how… I don’t know, just how much I like you.”
Ville pulled Bam closer and kissed his forehead.
“You’ve no idea how long I’ve waited for this, sweetheart.” he said softly.
Someone yelped and a voice whispered, “All right, who just pinched my ass?”
“What was that?” Bam asked.
Ryan, DiCo and everyone else in the doorway were suddenly caught up in a quiet tangle as everyone rushed back up stairs as quickly and as quietly as possible.
Ville turned back to Bam, “Probably just the movie.”
“Yeah, probably.” Bam giggled and whispered, “I can’t believe we’re doing this.”
“Me neither.”
Next morning, as Ville and Bam sat together eating breakfast, Steve-O and Ryan exchanged smirks.
“So…” April said as she made more bacon and eggs, “Did you boys have fun last night?”
“What?” Bam asked, his head darting up.
“Oh, nothing.” April said, with a small smile to herself.
“Bam,” Ville said quietly, so that only Bam could hear, “if you need any help with spiders again, just ask, right?”
Bam smiled, “Will do.”
April smiled and hummed some more to herself as she dished out bacon to anyone nearby, especially those nice Finnish boys, who she was convinced needed some feeding up because they were “all skin and bone”. She caught Johnny’s eye and had to suppress a giggle. Pinching Johnny’s ass hadn’t been the nicest experience she’d had ever had, but everyone deserves a little privacy, right? Especially such a nice person like Ville, he was so polite…
“More bacon, anyone?” she called.
