Pairing: Vam
Summary: Ville and Bam let their chance to be together slip away before, but when the chance to be together arises again, can they make it work... despite keeping it a secret from their friends and family?
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything connected to HIM, Ville Valo, or Bam Margera. Nor do I imply that in reality they are anything but friends. I, however, could not pass up a great idea for a fan fiction!
Warnings: My normal fic with lots of ups and downs.
Authors Notes: I'm feeling fairly confident in what I have planned for this... so I'm going to go ahead and start posting it. No telling when I will post again, might not be for a few days...depends on how the internet accessibility is going on in my life.

Sorry about the delay... between work, studying, and my compy SUCKING... this has taken longer than I thought. Much love to Slasher48 whom I don't get to spend nearly as much time chatting with as I used too... ~huggles~ I miss you!

“I know that Seppo....” Ville said, unable to control the anger in his tone. He swore and threw the crutches to the floor, leaning against the wall as he hopped to the stairs. “I can’t exactly jump on a plane right now... even if I wanted too.”

Alexsi and Cyrus bolted to an upright position and peered over the back of the couch. It was past midnight, the pair had attempted to stay up and await their parent’s return, only to fall asleep; awoken by the noise Ville was making.

“You both should be in bed.” Bam snapped, too stressed out at the moment to speak nicely.

“What happened?” Cyrus asked.

“We’ll talk about it in the morning... go to bed.” Bam said, pointing upstairs.

“But I want to know...” Alexsi started before Bam raised his tone and again pointed upstairs.

The two boys ran to Cyrus’ room, a little hurt by the tone Bam had taken, but too curious to really care at the moment. They sat on Cyrus’ bed, quietly debating what they had seen on Ville’s leg.

“Fucking hell.” Ville tossed his cell phone to the floor and hobbled into Bam’s private bathroom. Going to the hospital had been hell, only realizing there that his passport was MIA. Thankfully, most of his other forms of ID, were unaffected by their chlorine bath; thanks to Cyrus. Still, it had been nightmarish trying to explain to the doucebags that worked there, that he was a Finnish citizen, but needed medical assistance.

The night had only gotten worse when he had to explain to Seppo why he couldn’t leave to finish the tour tomorrow morning. That had really pissed his manager off. Ville had come dangerously close with a lot of his little vacations to America, to missing tour dates. So far he had yet to disappoint his fans... until now that was.

“It’s not my fault.” Ville had tried to explain. “The doctor wants me to stay off my feet for the next few weeks.”

“What the hell do doctors know?” Seppo asked.

“Even if the doctors had said I could leave and continue the tour, I can’t find my passport.” Ville added.

“What do you mean you can’t find your passport?” Seppo asked.

“It’s a long story.”

“Well start telling it!” Seppo demanded, which lead into an abbreviated version of how the boys had hid his wallet and passport on him. “Those kids deserve a good ass whipping...”

“They are just kids... they don’t understand...” Ville had insisted.

“That’s why you make them understand.” Seppo sighed, “How much longer until you can continue the tour?”

“I don’t know... I have to have surgery to fix my ankle, they are going to put me in a cast until that happens....then I have physical therapy...rehab....”

“Oh for the sweet love of God.” Seppo mumbled, “I need a fucking drink.”

“Have one for me...” Ville had mumbled, suddenly longing for a hard drink himself...

Now in the bathroom, Ville dry swallowed some medicine, before using the cup next to the toothbrush holder to drink some water. Opening his eyes, after a moment of reflection, Ville realized to his horror that something much more precious was missing.

He touched his chest for a moment, before looking down his shirt. “Bam!”

Bam came into the bathroom and looked Ville over, “Is something wrong?”

“It’s gone!” Ville cried. “It’s fucking gone!” Ville yelled, hobbling around the room in such a frantic manner, that he fell down. It didn’t stop him from searching all their clothes for what he was missing.

“What’s gone?” Bam asked.

“My necklace....my fucking necklace!” Ville yelled, clutching the front of his shirt. He started gasping, wheezing even, as he continued searching. “It can’t be gone... anything but that...” Tears were forming in his eyes as he continued to look for the one year AA amulet that Bam had given him.

“Hey... hey!” Bam grabbed the singer’s inhaler from his bag and brought it over to him, practically forcing Ville to stop and use it. “Calm down... it has to be here some where...”

“I can't believe this happening... on top of everything else that happened tonight...” Ville mumbled, rubbing his face. “I’ve lost it... the one object that meant anything to me...I’ve fucking lost it!”

Bam wrapped his arms around Ville’s body and held him close. “It’ll be alright...”

Ville took a few calming breaths, letting the medicine take the pain from his chest. “I know.... I just hate the thought of not having it.” He sighed and finally relaxed into his lover’s arms. “Today has just been so fucking stressful. First my ankle gets so sprained I can’t fucking walk on the damn thing. Now I have to have surgery....and rehab.... and then Seppo fucking scolded me like a Goddamn child... and I still have the joy of looking forward to hearing Jonna yell at me...”

“So you’re really going to go through with it?” Bam asked softly, rubbing Ville’s back.

“If you’re still willing to take on the added responsibility?” Ville asked softly, looking to Bam finally. The smile on the younger man’s lips brought warmth to his whole being.

“I believe I excepted that responsibility a few years ago, when he was born?” Bam offered softly, reaching up to gently smooth Ville’s hair. He leaned in and kissed his lover gently, “And you know he is more than welcomed to stay here.”

Ville nodded, resting his forehead against Bam’s neck. “I just know Jonna isn’t going to like this... she is going to fight it...”

“I know.” Bam said softly, holding Ville securely, “but it will make Alexsi a lot happier in the long run.”

***
“What do you think is happening?” Cyrus asked softly.

Alexsi shrugged, looking at his hands. “I’ve never seen papa look so angry...”

“What do you think we can do?” Cyrus asked.

“I don’t know...” Alexsi looked up and at his brother. “But I bet daddy will know what to do.”

Cyrus nodded, “He usually knows what to do.”

The pair looked to the doorway when they heard someone turning the doorknob. Since Alexsi was on Cyrus’ bed, he dove under the covers at the foot of the bed and covered his head.

The door opened slowly, as Bam leaned in and looked in on them. “I know you’re not sleeping...”

“How did you know?” Cyrus asked, pulling the blanket from over his head.

Bam smiled and walked in, “Because you just told me.”

Cyrus frowned and sat up. “What’s wrong with papa?”

“Nothing that a little surgery won’t fix.” Ville said, following Bam into the kids’ room.

Cyrus’ eyes went wide, “You have to have surgery?”

“Just a little... don’t worry.. it will be fine.” Bam said, sitting at the head of the bed, pulling Cyrus into his lap. “More importantly... we need to talk Alexsi.”

Cryus looked to the foot of the bed and then back to their parents. “Is he in trouble?”

“Maybe not...” Ville said, sitting on the side of the bed, knowing how close he was to his son. “If he comes out... he will be in less trouble than if he doesn’t.”

Slowly, Alexsi peeked over the covers and at their parents. “I didn’t mean to hurt you so much papa...”

Ville smiled, “I know you didn’t...”

Alexsi sat up, looking at the blanket instead of at his papa. “Do you want it back?”

Ville and Bam both looked at each other with surprise, then looked back at Alexsi. “ Want what back?”

Frowning more, Alexsi pulled the chain from under his shirt, frowning as he fingered the medallion on it. “I found it in your room, the chain was already broken.”

“Daddy has one like that too...” Cyrus said, pointing to his brother.

Realization of how it was broken, as well as relief, settled in over Ville. "Thank God you found it."

Alexsi nodded, still looking at the object in his hands. “I found a new chain to put it on.” He looked to his papa finally, and asked, “Daddy gave this to you... didn’t he?”

Ville smiled at Alexsi for a moment, before looking to Bam. “Yes he did... a long time ago... when you were just a baby.”

“In fact...” Bam said, reaching under his own shirt. “I have one like it... that papa gave me.”

The children oo’d as they hurried over to Bam, to look at his necklace, touching it gently.

“Did you get it when I was a baby too?” Cyrus asked.

Bam smiled and poked his son in the nose. “You were just a little baby when I go this.”

“But we’re big boys now.” Alexsi chimed in.

Ville pulled Alexsi in for a hug, mussing up his hair. “Well... Mr. Big Boy... you’ll be grounded until you’re an old man if you ever pull a stunt like that again.” He tickled Alexsi, causing the little boy to laugh and wiggle in his arms. Then, he carried him as carefully as he could, to his own bed; dumping him onto the mattress.

Alexsi laughed as he bounced around, before crawling under the blanket. He then pulled the necklace from around his neck, holding it out for Ville.

Ville leaned in, and let Alexsi slip it around his neck.

“It’s right where it belongs.” Alexsi said softly, pulling the blankets up, “Just like us.”

Ville smiled at the innocent statement of his son, knowing that there was more than a little bit of truth in it. “Good night Alexsi.” He leaned in again, this time kissing his son on the cheek. “I love you.”

“I love you too papa.”

As Ville went over to Cyrus’ bed, Bam came over to Alexsi’s, their eyes met and their hands touched.

“Daddy!” Alexsi cried, reaching out for Bam, kicking his legs up and down.

Bam chuckled, jogging over to the bed, before throwing himself down and onto the mattress. “Alexsi!”

Cyrus laughed as Ville walked over to him. “They are so silly papa.”

Ville chuckled, “Very silly.” He reached out and ran his hand over Cyrus’ curly hair, before leaning down to kiss him on the forehead. “Good night Cyrus... I love you.”

“I love you too papa...” Cyrus rolled to his side, pulling his blankets close. “Don’t forget to tell daddy you love him.”

Ville and Bam smiled at each other as they left the room. “Don’t worry...” Bam said, pausing in the doorway, “He never forgets that.”

“Hello Jonna....I’ll go and get him.” April was smiling until she made it into the living room. “Alexsi!” She hurried over to the window, were Alexsi was, holding tightly onto the curtains, as he swung back and forth on them. At eight years old now, he looked even more like his father, except for that mischievous glint in his eyes.

Cyrus, now seven years old, was sitting on his skateboard, laughing at what Alexsi was doing. “Look Me-maw! Alexsi is Tarzan!”

Right on cue, Alexsi did his best jungle cry, smacking into the window and rolled across it.

“Get down from there this minute!” April cried, scolding both of the boys. “I don’t know what I’m going to do with you.” She said, running his hand over Alexsi’s head. “Your mom is on the phone...” She raised her hand up to signal his coming whining and complaining to stop before it started. “Please... be the good boy I know you are and talk to her for a few minutes.”

“Alright...” Alexsi literally drug his feet into the kitchen and picked up the phone. “Hi mom.” He sighed, resting his chin against the counter top as he listened to her.

“I heard you were going to be coming back to Finland for a little bit.”

Alexsi sat up straighter when his mother said that. “I’m going to see uncle Jesse compete in a tournament.”

“That’s...good...” Jonna tried to say, even though she really didn’t mean it. “I was hoping you might come and visit me for a little bit while you’re here.”

Alexsi frowned, “I’m going to be really busy...”

“Just for a little bit. You haven’t even met your little sister.” Jonna protested, having remarried and had a daughter in time since she had given Ville permission to move Alexsi to America. “Wouldn’t you like to see her?”

“I suppose...” Alexsi murmured. “Can I still go to see uncle Jesse?”

Now it was Jonna’s turn to sigh, “Of course.”

“One day.” Alexsi said finally.

“Thank you Alexsi!” Jonna said happily, “I’m sure we will have a lot of fun.”

***
“So you’re going to see your mom?” Cyrus asked, sitting next to Alexsi when he hung up the phone.

“Unfortunately.” Alexsi said, picking at a take out menu. “She wants me to see my little sister.”

Cyrus nodded, “I wish I had a little sister.”

“What...a brother isn’t goo enough?” Alexsi teased, pushing Cyrus.

“It’s ok.” Cyrus teased back, shoving Alexsi. “But a sister would be better.”

“Why... your stuffed animals aren’t good enough to have tea parties with anymore?” Alexsi said before running off.

“I do not play with stuffed animals!” Cyrus cried, running after his brother.

“But you don’t deny having tea parties?” Alexsi asked, dodging furniture as he ran through the living room.

“At least I don’t look like a girl!” Cyrus called back.

“I don’t look like a girl!” Alexsi paused to yell at his brother, giving Cyrus the chance to catch up and tackle the slightly older boy.

“Girly boy!” Cyrus cried, laughing as he tickled Alexsi. “Your little sister could beat you up.”

“Look who’s talking... you and your girly hair.”

“Is not!”

“Is too!” Alexsi said, as he started tickling his brother back.

The pair rolled around on the floor, running in to things and knocking them over. April finally came in and separated them, sending them outside to play. “You would think that after the last...what three...four years now? I would be used to those two...”

Bam chuckled, “Where are the hell raisers up to now?”

“Cyrus is skateboarding and Alexsi is on his bike.” April said.

“It makes me a little sad that Alexsi lost his interest in skateboard when he discovered BMX bikes.” Bam confessed, peeking out the window to check on what they were doing.

“At least it’s still in the extreme sports category... so you can still share that with him.” April offered.

“Very true.”

“When will Ville be here?” Phil asked, from his place at the table.

“Tomorrow....we’re going to spend some time here together before Ville takes Alexsi back to Finland.” Bam explained.

“Where he will see his mother.” April said with a smile, which faded when she saw the look of disbelief on her son’s face. “What?”

“I hope you’re talking about Ville’s mother...” Bam started.

“No...I’m talking about Jonna. She wants to spend some time...” April trailed off when she saw the tension on her son’s face. “Is there something wrong with him spending time with his mother?”

Yes, everything is wrong about it. Bam thought to himself. “Of course not.” His words were forced and mumbled, but it was better than what he wanted to say.

April drifted closer to Bam, placing her hand on his shoulder. “Tell me the truth Bam... this isn’t like.... like Missy is it?” She asked carefully, hesitating for a moment.

“No.” Bam breathed softly, “It’s nothing like that... Jonna wouldn’t hurt him.”

“Then what is wrong?” April asked softly.

Jealousy Bam thought, but said nothing. As it turned out, he didn’t need too; because Ville came through the doors, proceeded by the happy screams of delight from their children.

“Papa is here!” Alexsi and Cyrus cheered.

Bam smiled as Cyrus ran over to him. “Come on daddy! Look! Papa is here!” Cyrus grabbed Bam’s hand started to pull on him, in an attempt to get him to his feet.

Bam felt joy creep over him, as he was “pulled” into the next room...soon standing in front of Ville.

“Hello darling.” Ville said softly, pulling Bam in for a hug.

Bam relaxed in the older man’s arms in a way he hadn’t been able to since he had left... the tension worse as he thought about leaving Alexsi in the hands of his mother. “It’s good to see you.”

Ville studied Bam as best as he could before he asked, “Is something wrong darling?”

Bam immediately thought about just saying “nothing,” then suddenly thought better about it. “We can talk about it later...”

Later came shortly after that. Alexsi and Cyrus were outside playing for the moment, while Phil and April were out of the house taking care of some of their own errands. This left Bam and Ville alone, which immediately resulted in them snuggling on the couch.

“Does it make me a bad person...” Bam whispered softly, as Ville played with his hair. “That I’m jealous of her... even though I see her son more in one week then she does in a whole year?”

Ville smiled gently at the American, before whispering, “No... because I know Alexsi wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but here, if he had the choice.”

“He did have the choice...” Bam pointed out. “He choice to stay here with me.”

“I miss him so much... even though I see him as much as possible... and we talk every day. Still...seeing him there in the doorway like that.” Ville paused for a moment. “I can’t believe how much he is changing.”

Bam propped himself up and smiled down at Ville. “They are both turning out alright.” His smile wavered for a moment, as insecurities snuck in. “I just can’t help but worry.... even though I know the situation with Jonna is different than Missy....”

Ville nodded, pulling Bam close. “I love you Bam... and I know you love our sons just as much. We’ll be back before you know it...” His words broke off into a yawn that made Bam chuckle. “No picking on the old man.”

“I’m tired too, to tell you the truth.” Bam slid his hands under Ville’s shirt, snuggling closer. “Do you think the kids will need us in the next five or so minutes?”

Ville slid his hands up the back of Bam’s shirt, holding him close; and like Bam, his eyes were already closed. “I can’t tell the future... but I don’t see them needing us anytime too soon... why?”

“I think we should take a power nap.” Bam suggested. “Just a little nap before we have to separate ourselves and pretend we're not together.”

“Don’t remind me... sometimes... I wonder...”

“About what?” Bam asked, but his question would not be answered, since Ville was already asleep. Ville and Bam slept peacefully on the couch, finding a sense of calm and relaxation they could not find alone. It was only meant to be a few minutes, but that number soon grew until over a half an hour had passed and the singer and skater were deep asleep....

***
Alexsi came running into the house, just ahead of his brother. His laughter and joking around slowed when he realized how quiet the house was. After looking around some of the downstairs, he noticed someone on the couch. He could tell right away that it was his papa, and decided to creep up on him and surprise him.

He made it to the couch, mid surprise attack, when he realized Ville was not alone.

Noticing the preplexed look on his brother’s face, Cryus went over to him. “What’s wrong?”

Alexsi was quiet for a moment, before he asked softly, “Why is daddy laying on papa?”

Cyrus looked over the couch and was equally surprised, “Why is papa’s arm under daddy’s shirt?”

“I was going to ask the same thing of daddy...” Alexsi whispered, finally looking to Cyrus.
