Your eyes are closed, dark lashes a stark contrast to pale cheeks.
Your lips are wine colored, so red, so full of life.
I stand beside you.
Waiting for you to wake.
To greet me with a smile.
I touch your cheek gently, willing my warmth to wake you.
You promised me eternal love.
Now all I have is the cold shell of what was once our love.
You left me with a kiss and a promise to return.
That promise remains unbroken.
You left me on the doorstep.
You returned to me in a casket.
