Alexi (POV)
Sadly I walked back into the school and headed off to my final class of the day. It shouldn’t be too difficult, just a computer class I need to fulfill my requirements. This should give me enough time to plot and scheme about tonight.
I finally find the classroom just as the bell rings and the teacher begins to close the door. The damn thing comes close to slamming my face before I shoved it back open. Unfortunately, I must have pushed too hard because the door slams into the wall, shaking the glass. Again, all eyes turn to me and everyone falls silent. I let my eyes fall to the floor and begin to walk to the only available seat, conveniently located in the back corner. Its hard to ignore all of the heads turning as I walk by. The teacher begins to speak and all attention is diverted back to him.
“Is that the one you were talking about?” Two seated ahead of me begin to whisper as I sit down.
“Yea,” oh great, Caroline has this class as well. “I told you he looks like a freak.”
Whatever bitch.
Beside me, I hear a small laughter. “Don’t you love it when people in earshot assume that you can’t hear them?”
I look over to the voice beside me and see the most peculiar looking person of the day. There sat a boy, about my age, dressed in loose baggy jeans with a silken Chinese style black shirt. Nothing too unusual there, but what set him off the most, was his spiky black hair with various crow feathers neatly placed in. He looked over to me and smiled.
“Well,” I laugh. “I’m used to it. It seems to be happening a lot today.”
“Ah, you must be the new kid then. I was wondering why Caroline wasn’t threatening to call PETA on me today.”
I give another small laugh and stretch out my hand. “Yea, I’m Alexi. And I like your hair, its not like you have the birds head and beak sticking out.”
“Well thank you. I think,” he smiles and takes my hand. “I’m Lauri.”
I spent the whole class period whispering back and forward to Lauri. He turned out to be a pretty interesting guy. Turns out his parents were Finnish, although he was born and raised here in West Chester. He was also an aspiring singer/songwriter and skate boarder. He gave me some of his lyrics to look over. They weren’t bad, not exactly my style, a little too poppy, but they were all right.
“So, meet any interesting people on your first day?” He asked.
“Well, aside from you, only one other person.”
“Really? And who might that be?” I open my mouth to tell him about Ville, but the bell cuts me off and everyone begins to gather their things.
“Hey, I’m going to the skate park after school, do you want to come?”
“Well, I don’t know. I kind of had plans tonight,” his face immediately frowns in disappointment.
“Oh, ok then.”
“Wait, I still need help with getting around. Maybe I could go with after school and you could tell me where all the bars are in this town?”
“Well, that shouldn’t be too hard,” he laughs. “There’s only about three.”
The skate park didn’t turn out to be so bad. Not that I was about to touch a board, but I enjoyed watching Lauri. He was pretty talented. Plus, this way I had time to think. Think about what I might say to Ville when I ran into him tonight, how I might ask him out, where we would go. Ok, I know I was obsessing a little but I couldn’t help it. Ville was unlike anyone that I’ve ever met. Just the way he carried himself with that confident, I-don’t-give-a-fuck attitude and, besides myself and Lauri, he was the only person I’ve seen so far who didn’t fall into the crowd standards. And it didn’t hurt that he was positively the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen.
Thinking about all these things gave me an inspiration. I pulled my pen and journal out of my bag and began to scribble away.
I see the candle light burning in your
eyes, flareing up my eyes in flames
On this pitch-black summer night...
of passion and pain
The razor caressed my flesh
and my arms turned red, I feel a vast desire
Years of pain are flowing down my arms.
Sweet, red, warm stream you drink, make me released
Give me your hand, let me make you feel the ease,
in the bed of razors we bleed together...
I feel the fire burning in my heart,
I see it sparkling in your eyes
The blaze you're feeding more and more
The razor caressed your flesh and your arms turned red.
I feel your vast desire
Tearing pain is flowing down your arms.
Sweet, red, warm stream I drink to make you released
Holding your arms, cherish this composure,
in the bed of razors we sleep together, forever...
“What are you writing.” I jump about twenty feet in the air.
“Jesus Lauri! Don’t sneak up like that.”
“Sorry,” he laughs and sits down beside me. “So what are you writing?”
“Oh, just…some song lyrics. Nothing too special.”
“Can I read them?” I hand him the notebook and watch his face for his reaction. His eyes widen and mouth parts slightly. “Wow. These are…extreme.”
“Is that a good or bad thing?”
“Oh, its an extremely great thing.” He smiles. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“I just got to…thinking about someone,” I say looking down a little embarrassed. How do you tell the first person you’ve made friends with in a new country that your gay?
“Well you should think about them more often, these are amazing.”
“Thanks. So are you ready to go?”
That night, Lauri gave me the tour of the towns three bars. The first one was an awful country bar. I looked around for a few minutes to confirm that Ville wasn’t there before we moved onto the next. The next bar was a little nicer. Lauri informed me that this was the bar were local bands played. I was a little surprised when I didn’t see Ville here either. It seemed like the kind of place he would like. Lauri managed to charm the pretty bartender into giving us a few drinks before we moved on. I was rather thankful that he didn’t question why we were bar hopping, instead he just smiled and told me about the best features of the town.
We reached the final bar around nine, seemed like the perfect hour to start a drinking binge. My heart skyrocketed though when I saw a red hummer parked out front. I practically ran inside, Lauri laughing and following close behind.
“Slow down, we have all night.”
I gave a small laugh to let him think I was listening and I started to search through the bar. This one wasn’t as big as the other two and it didn’t really have a theme like the others. It was a nice comfortable setting for your average alcoholic. Looking around the room though, I started to get discouraged when I didn’t see Ville.
“Alexi! Are you listening?” Lauri nudged me.
“What? Oh, sorry. I kind of spaced out.”
“That’s ok. Anyway I was saying that I’m going to go try get us another drink. I’ll be right back.” He gave me a strange look before heading off to the bar.
I need to get a hold of myself. I can’t keep spacing out like that, might look like I’m starting to become obsessed. I’m not obsessed though, I just have a little crush that’s all. Suddenly, I see him!
He’s standing over by the jukebox, scanning through the music. My jaw falls to the floor as I look at him. He definitely didn’t look the same from this morning. His flowing brunette hair war free from his beanie and fell past his shoulders. He was wearing, if it was possible, an even tighter pair of black leather pants that couldn’t help but show off his beautiful curves as he bent over the jukebox. Lastly, was the skin tight black tank top that clung to him like a second skin. I didn’t think he was so small.
I look over to Lauri, he’s still trying to use his charms and smile to get us a drink. He seems like he’s going to be preoccupied for a while, so I swallow the lump in my throat as my feet begin to carry me over to Ville.
Walking up slowly, I’m able to get close to him, even lean up against the wall beside the jukebox without him noticing. Leaning there, I’m once again taken aback by his beauty. His emerald eyes are layered in dark kohl with light pink eye shadow and sparkling pink lip gloss. I cough a little to remove the lump lodged in my throat and open my mouth to speak.
“Ville,” my voice came out much louder than I intended it to be and he jumps slightly.
“Shit,” he laughs and breaths deep. “Alexi, what are you doing here?”
“My friend,” I point to Lauri. “He wanted to show me the local bars. I saw you over here all alone so I thought I’d say hi.”
“Well thanks for thinking about me sweetheart, but I’m not quite alone.” He points behind me to a group of people squeezed into a booth. A couple of them were involved in what looked like a drinking game in which the loser was smacked across the face.
“Oh, that’s cool. I was kind of…wanting to ask you something.”
“What is it?”
“Well I was wanting to know if you would like to-”
“WILLLLLAAAA!!!!” From out of no where a man came flying through the air onto Ville’s back, sending them both to the floor. The man has Ville pinned in seconds.
“Get the fuck off of him!” I yell and pull the man back off of him.
“Whoa, calm down man,” he smiles and laughs at me.
“Alexi, its alright,” Ville laughs as I help him up. The other guy stands up and puts an arm around Ville’s waist.
“Let me give you a proper introduction. Alexi this is my boyfriend, Bam.”
