love the butterfly flower--the one whose leaves fold into butterflies at night.

Glad you like it. I was told by the woman who gave that plant to me that it's an ivy plant. But butterfly flower/plant-that's a more wonderful name to call it than just its regular one.

What is it?

Your gitanillas (ivy geranium) is just like mine!

I like that one too. It's called Portulaca Grandiflora and it's one of my volunteer plants which come out every year in some of my pots. This year, it seems to have a darker hue than last year. I can't seem to get the link to work here but if you get a chance, go back to one of my posts last year and you'll see what I mean. Anyway, they come in various colors. I have a golden yellow with a brownish red center, a white, light pink, magenta and I forget what else. But this one photographs the best.

Aren't those gitanillas pretty? And they're so easy to grow. I have stuck cuttings in various pots and they're thriving. The mother plant, from which I took the photo, is on a hanging container and flowers profusely all year. And that's without the aid of any fertilizers. This year, though, I've been using compost tea on quite a number of my plants and the results are wonderful! More flowers, like the ones on the photos.

Wow, they're gorgeous. I sure wish I could have color like that at this time of year. The only color we have in the Northeast is from all the Xmas lights on houses.

Welcome. Glad you like them. I do miss the pristine white of snow and how the sun glistens on them. I like walking in the snow but don't like driving in it!

Beautiful color splashes. Not much blooming here right now, although we do have a pink fall flowering camillia that still has some flowers.

Thanks. That's one of the things I like about living in these southern parts. Many flowers bloom year-round.

I've been wanting to grow camellias, but don't have much space in my container garden , anymore. Maybe I'll convince my son & DIL to let me plant one in their garden.

Oh do. Will you plant the regular spring blooming Camillia, or the less familiar fall blooming? Or perhaps in that climate they bloom differently?

I didn't know there was a difference until you mentioned it! The ones I see around here seem to bloom year round, but I could be wrong. I will check around. I will let you know when I get one. And I will name it Heartsong, would that be ok with you?

Thanks. It's all lovely. Everything in my garden is in complete shock from the suddenly freezing temps....very brown and droopy....your flowers really perked my mood up....thanks again.

Welcome. Glad they made you feel better. They do the same to me, everytime I see them and my container garden, in general.
