A Few Questions??

Are any of you getting married in the same place you are having your reception? What are your thoughts on this?

The reason I ask is because I have always wanted to get married in a Church but I am sorta changing my mind on it because at the University of Charleston you can have the ceremony and reception in one building. The Ceremony is held on the ( Read more... )

I am! I love the idea. I'm getting married in the Garden, and I love that I don't have to travel anywhere to get to my reception since I'm getting married in the evening. I think it'll be wonderful with your ideas, as well.

I know and the place is really pretty because the state capital is right across the river!

We are! It's so much easier. We are even having people sit at their tables when we get married (and saving nearly a grand in chairs and setting up fees). There's a stage so I am not worried about people being able to see the ceremony. AND the bar can open up right after we make our exit, no ackward getting to the other location or hour or two to kill before the party gt started. It's going to be GREAT!

Well the way this place is set up the ceremony would be on the second floor and the reception would be on the first.

I am. We're getting married either at a restaurant that has a garden in the back (ceremony in garden, reception in restaurant), or at some garndes that have a building to use for the reception.

We are. We're getting married at a park near water. I had in mind to have the reception elsewhere, but fiance doesn't want to waste time to move to another location. I agreed to have the reception in the same location. It will be right next to the ceremony location. We may have guests bring their ceremony chair to the reception tables. I have cousins that could help with this, bring chairs over for older guests etc.

Your new ceremony/reception locations look great. Guests won't have to worry about transportation to another location, parking etc.

That is true... I am just afraid because it is in a University and I am not sure on how it will turn out. We drove down there yesterday and for 200-250 people it would be fine without a dance floor. But if I have my wedding somewhere else I could have the dinner downstairs and the reception upstairs. I am not sure yet. I am waiting on the lady to get back in contact with me on it... Hopefully this will work out!!

I'm having the reception and ceremony at the same place. I wouldn't have it any other day. The whole thing is taking place at a hotel. I specifically wanted to do that to limit travel time for guests and so they can just stumble up to their room after the party and I don't have to worry about how they're getting home. FH and I aren't religious at all so we knew we didn't want it in a church, so we're having the ceremony in this little courtyard with a gazebo at the hotel.

As for photographers. In my area (GTA ... Greater Toronto Area), the average is about $3,000. I can't justify that amount so I'm trying to find one for about $1,000 that's still decent.

I mean his work is AMAZING! I have NEVER been speechless when looking at someone's work. He is worth the money... but that is almost 5000.00! I am not having a videographer because I just dont think we will care about that but I love pictures and want pictures galore! I will probably be better after I know I just have to pay him bit by bit... up until the wedding... so it isnt all at once! :)

We're not doing a videographer either. Not worth it and usually the videos look kind of cheesey. I just plan on giving my video camera to a friend/relative and say "Tape until you get bored and pass it on".
