After the Carnival

Sep 05, 2006 23:47

The carnival had been weird as hell for Hannibal and Andy and they hadn't stayed long after the mirror incident. They were both too freaked out to really enjoy themselves, so it was decided that they should go. But neither of them wanted to go home and be alone. Being freaked out and alone is never a good combination. Hanging out with Muds and Stu ( Read more... )

Two keys and eight keychains take a while to get through to get a door open. There is no logical reason a person needs this many keychains, they're just all so neat.

Andy finally gets the door open and leads Han inside. "Last time I left a fair early it wa because I went on the Octopus seven times and hurled. That was less bizarre, at least. Um...Let's just do something else, ok?"

She takes her hoodie off and takes the funnel cake from the pocket, setting it on an end table.
"Want a drink? I'm gonna go up and get a soda... there is liquor, if you want."

Han curls onto the couch, eyes still a bit wider than they should be. "Yeah...we really need to do something else. We really, really do." He pushes the hair from his face and lets out a shaking breath.

"A drink would be good. A drink of the liquor variety would be even better." He really needs it. "Don't care what it is, just make it alcoholic...please." The please makes it sound less desperate, right? He certainly hopes so.

"Put in a DVD or something if you want...or just put the TV on."

She heads up to the kitchen and pours herself a rum and coke. When she comes back down, Andy has a bottle of Captain Morgan, a bottle of smirnoff vodka, some cokes and a glass. Han can do as he pleases with it. She just sets it out on the table.
"There...didn't know what you'd want."

Han nods and puts the TV on. He's not thinking enough to decide on a DVD, so he'll just stare blankly at whatever show is on. That's easiest.

When she returns, Han blinks at the buffet o' liquor on the table in front of him. "Uh...thanks." He nods and has some vodka. He surprises himself by using a glass.

"So...uhm...so. That...was pretty weird, huh? I mean...yeah."

It's a night filled with strange dreams and half-memories. There's no escaping the images from those mirrors, her subconscious won't allow it.
Neither will reality, it seems.

Andy wakes late in the morning. If it wasn't for the need for food and such, she could sleep on Han forever. Alas, they would starve and die. She stretches and it feels...kind of great. At least until she opens her eyes.
She almost shrieks because 'that isn't Han', but she recognizes his mirror self almost instantly. She's half convinced she's still dreaming. Andy looks herself over and finds her clothes don't fit quite the same.
"Oh.... Oh my GOD! OH. MY. GOD!"

Han shifts in his sleep and blinks slowly awake. He frowns slightly, almost afraid to open his eyes fully; yelling never means anything good in his experience. But he has to look...

Slowly, he looks up at her. Large brown eyes widen further as they focus on the girl...no...the woman that Andy has become. "...holy fuck...Andy...?"

Andy smiles brightly down at Han, tilting her head a little at the warm brown of his eyes. Her hand comes down to cup his face and run her thumb carefully over his cheek.

"Yeah... and..and this is real. I mean, it feels real, right?"

Han nods, a smile creeping slowly onto his face. "Yeah...yeah, it feels real." His face is much softer than it had been, the thin layer of fat one gets if they actually eat cushioning her hand from the bone beneath. "I...I don't know how, but it sure feels real."

"Shh.. It'll be ok." There's no way to know that. It sure as hell doesn't seem ok. All Andy can do is promise herself the same things and try to be there for Han. The panic helps keep the tears back and the need to help keeps her from running away.

"C'mon. Lemme help you up." Carefully slipping both arms around him, she guides Han to his feet. Andy is as careful as she can be leading him to the couch and sits down with him when they get there, petting his hair gently.

"Is there... Can I get you anything?" She feels completely useless.

Han curls up, huddling and wide-eyed. With him, the panic is just the opposite; it brings on the tears. And he's certainly panicking, the tears streaming silently down his cheeks. He's also begun to shake, tugging on a bit of his hair. Old habits die hard.

"I don't...you don't gotta do anything. You're sick...I...I'm okay."

"I'm fine... I'll be fine. Just..don't worry about me, ok? I just ate the wrong thing or something." She bites her lip, wondering if she should try getting any actual breakfast down. Not yet, though. It doesn't matter right now.

"I'll take care of you." Andy kisses Hannibal's cheek, tasting the salt of his tears as she moves away. She slips her arms around his shoulders as she watches him start to shake, and just holds him.

He presses his face to her shoulder, squeezing his eyes shut. If his eyes are closed, it gives a reason for the blackness. When he speaks, his voice is muffled and sounds very young. "...'m scared...I wanna go home." He knows she wants to take care of him, he wants her to take care of him...but home is familiar and home is safe. Maybe she could stay with him there? He doesn't know. He just wants to be home.

Muds wakes up in the bedroom alone and has to wonder where the fuck Han is. He came home from Stu's and eventually passed out, but he remembers hearing Han and Andy's voices in the apartment. Oh well...Andy must have stayed with him in the other room. Good for Han...

Stretching out, Murdoc pulls a large shirt on to keep him...herself covered and wanders blearily out to the living room. Where...there are two strangers on the couch.

"What the fuck?!" Goddamnit. And she left the gun back in the bedroom.
"Ok..who the fuck are you? Why the hell are you in my house? If you just wandered in to sleep it off, go wait for the shakes out on the stairs like good junkies. Shit."
Her feet are spaced apart and her eyes are hard and angry to mask the fear. Every indication of being tough as nails despite being half naked and a little frail.

Han shifts and blinks awake under the blindfold. He tries to sit up, but Andy's on top of him. What's going on? Who is that yelling? And why can't he see? He frowns and pulls the blindfold off, but it doesn't help. Oh yeah...that whole blind thing. It still doesn't explain who's yelling at him, though.

"Who the fuck are are you? This isn't your house, okay? It's mine. And we ain't junkies, so shut up." Really not the best comeback, but he's still mostly asleep and really quite confused. Still, he scowls at the girl the best he can, though his eyes don't quite look at her.

Andy clings tightly to Hannibal. There's never a good time to be woken up by a stranger yelling at you, but some times are worse than others.

She looks over at the girl and blinks. Her eyes... But that can't be. Of course, what's happened to her and Han shouldn't be either.
"Leave us alone. This is Han's apartment."
It's all the talking to strange naked people she has strength for, really, and now she can't stop staring at the girl... The eye color and the expression are so like Murdoc...

As soon as Han speaks, a chill runs down Murdoc's spine. Even with some of the rough edge smoothed from it, Muds knows his brother's voice. When the blindfold comes off, he blanches. He also knows what blindness looks like...
And that girl sounds like Andy? What the fuck...

"Jesus.... Han? Andy? I..." Muds pulls the shirt down and brings her legs together, a little more modest suddenly. "What the hell?" It's not like it's any less confusing for them, though, is it? "Oh...um...it's me...it's Muds. I..I don't know. I woke up like this."

"Han? What's wrong with your eyes?"
