All right, here we go with the last section!
Chapter 17
Jessica is driving crazily in the storm to Louis's beach condo. She wants to tell him that he's a hypocrite and a coward! He should've left her alone! She hates him! She goes to slap him and he grabs her wrist, telling her to stop. And who did that to her forehead? She explains that she just fell and goes to leave before he begs to explain. She'll never know how important she is! They kiss, and apparently doink, because we cut to a new scene.

Lila and Bruce are trying to sleep while the ceiling leaks again. He can't sleep with that noise and says for her to call the roof guy again in the morning. Lila tells him (yells, really; they're frustrated at this point) to call the plumber to get hot water working again. Bruce apparently got the water working earlier, but it's still just cold. He thinks that Lila's being selfish about the water issue; she didn't give him one word of praise about him getting it turned back on. Here's one, Bruce.
Bruce asks for a bit of the blanket, but Lila gives him only a tiny bit. They glare at each other and abruptly start hitting each other with pillows. Awwww! At one point, Bruce falls on the floor, and Lila lies diagonally over the bed, taking up as much as she can and wrapping herself in the quilt. "Mine," she purred. "All mine." So cute! Aaaand Bruce pulls her down to the floor, where they giggle hysterically. Someone pounds on their floor yelling for them to shut up, and our crazy cute kids yell back "TOUGH!" (an ongoing word they kept throwing at each other) before climbing into bed and huddling together. :)

Boring Vegas. Some chick is talking to Tom about how time-disorienting Vegas is. Yeah, that's how they get people to stay waayyyy longer than they intended and to spend more money than they planned on. Tom asks if anybody wants to go see the room where the match is going to be held. The girl agrees to go with him. The room is huge, and Tom salivates over the broadcasting equipment (of course) before some man in a suit orders them to get out. A second suited man shows up, telling Big Scary Guy to get lost, he has this. He's in charge of coordinating the hotel, promoters, etc. He says that they hired security guards, but they're not always as "polished" as they'd like. If Random Girl and Tom look for him before the broadcast, he'll make sure they get good seats and celebrity interviews. He leaves, and Tom points out that he never said who he worked for. Random Girl doesn't care, and neither do I. He's obviously in on the Santa thing, so who gives a poop?

Chapter 18
Elizabeth is trying to sleep, but Jessica has been gone all night. I bet she has! Liz is worried Jessica might have been caught by Santa's goons. Actually, Jessica is in Louis's arms post-sex. Now that Jessica's emotions are no longer stormy, neither is the weather, and the sea is all calm and sweet and pretty. Louis wants her to leave before it's fully daylight and someone sees her. He also wants her to not tell Elizabeth. As Jessica leaves, he realizes CEW could indeed have been watching them when he wasn't paying attention, and that she could be watching him or Jessica's red Jeep even now, from a spot he can't see.

Lila's in the bathroom getting ready. She reaches for a bottle of exfolient in the open shelves on the wall, and a basket of her makeup falls into the toilet. Bruce hears her cry out in frustration, and stops by to see what's wrong. She demands to know why he didn't put the seat and the lid down on the toilet. (Sweetie, not to call you out, but if there is an open shelving unit above a toilet with lid and seat up, that's a disaster waiting to happen and you could've just put both down by yourself, then bitched Bruce out later.) Bruce doesn't care about Lila's makeup and wants to know how much longer she'll be. This is "not an earthshaking tragedy," he says.
It's Lila. Okay. When even a freaking paper cut happens to her, it's an earthshaking tragedy. Kay, Brucie? You should know by now that the list of important people goes as follows.
1. Lila Fowler
2. Everyone else
3. Bruce Patman
They squabble a bit more, and the tenants below complain again. Shut it, guys.

Chapter 19
Winston is in his room in the ROTC uniform. He thinks about how ridiculous he looks and wonders if he should call Denise again before deciding against it. He heads down the hall toward the ROTC drill field and is teased by his dormmates. They bet on how long he'll last in there and don't seem to know about the cheating thing, so Denise must not have told everyone.
-
As soon as Jessica walks into the twins' room, she's immediately accosted by Liz. She wants to know where Jessica has been and says she was about to call the police. Elizabeth says that one minute Jess won't get out of bed, and the next she's gone all night, and this is a bad time in Liz's life for Jessica to disappear without warning. You go, Lizzie. Make Jessica's latest love disaster ALL ABOUT YOU. Grrr. Jess says that she was just driving all night, and Elizabeth reluctantly accepts it. She tells Jess she's working on a story about the athletics department, and Jessica laughs "Again?!" Liz doesn't find this funny and Jess plays along. She asks if Elizabeth needs the Jeep, because she wants to run into town. (The night before, Jessica at one point told Louis about being in the Unicorn club and he liked the idea of her with a unicorn. Jessica saw a book in a bookstore about medieval tapestries, and the cover showed a picture of a blonde woman with a unicorn. She wants to get it for him as "a symbol that she [wants] to be a permanent part of his life." Not creepy at all!) Liz lets her take the Jeep, but tells her to be careful. Jessica just rolls her eyes.

Winston arrives at the ROTC field, thinking that the only thing he can hope for now is to eventually become a member of "one of those elite special forces that spent their time diffusing car bombs and learning nine ways to kill terrorists using handy household implements." (Like a hand towel or your own teeth? Mmmm. Jack Bauer memories. I need a 24 marathon. <3) He has this fantasy where he volunteers for a suicide mission, and Imaginary Winston says to tell Denise he loves her and he's sorry. Real life Winston is so caught up into this that he actually tears up. *giggles* Vaguely he sees someone walking toward him through his tears. He realizes that it's Denise! In army wear! WTF?
She thought about it, and what he did was wrong, but she loves him anyway. Then she hugs him. Both are startled by a shrill whistle - it's an officer wanting to know who Winston is; Denise tells (shouts, really - it IS the army) him it's their new recruit. Officer Guy tells Denise to rejoin the regiment and reassures Winston that they'll make a man out of him. (I don't want him to be a man! He's our lovable and goofy Winston. Don't change him!!) He then says that Denise is a credit to the unit and warns Winston to be one, too. Winston yes-sirs and is determined to apply himself to win back everyone's respect.

Todd is having lunch with Liz, who just told him about Jessica's driving-all-night story. She admits she doesn't know if it's true or not. Todd suggests her giving up the investigation and Liz refuses. She then yawns and says she's going back to her room to take a nap. She thinks as she leaves that she and Todd are walking toward an invisible ledge, blah blah metaphor-danger-cakes, they won't know where it is until they step over the edge. Man, even Liz's thoughts about danger are boring.

Chapter 20
Jessica has bought the book, and goes to start the Jeep when she notices a black Mazda (those crazy villains and their Mazdas!) a ways behind her, idling in the street. She realizes that it's the same one that was behind her the whole way into town. Maybe Lizzie wasn't being paranoid! Ruh-oh! Jessica is determined not to be intimidated and daydreams about Louis before the car behind her bumps into the Jeep. Jessica gets on the highway and floors it, but the Mazda keeps up. A few miles later Jessica arrives at a construction point where she should probably slow down. Mazda has no intention of slowing down, so Jess speeds up on the "twisting, turning mountain highway." (Construction and a dangerous mountain highway? There can be too much drama, ghostwriter.)
-
Louis gets a call at his condo and thinks it's Jessica. It's a different female voice that says that she's in a car, going about 80 mph, and guess who's about five inches in front of her? She's getting ready to run her off the road at the Pine Bluff construction site and figured Louis would want to listen while his new girlfriend is killed, because CEW warned him about falling in love with somebody else. We finally get a name for CEW when Louis shouts "Leave her alone, Chloe!" Aw man, I was having a blasty-blast throwing my initials in this recap. :( Louis practically squeezes the phone to pieces as he hears screeches of rubber and horns and Chloe's crazy laugh. He pictures the Jeep crashing and begs to know why Chloe's doing this. He hears a loud crashing sound and screams for Jessica. Way to go, you just gave Chloe her name!

Chapter 21
Mark is doing various odd jobs around the locker room and talks to a few former teammates. Alex walks in with a group of girls headed to the weight room. This time around she sees him and walks up, asking how he's been. He tells her she looks good, but doesn't explain why he's there. Mark talks to the former teammates and says that he'll be back on the team. Todd appears at the door and gasps. Mark rubs it in a little bit by saying it's because of the coach, Dr. Beal, and... Santa. (Beal has been mentioned in the book before, but hasn't played as big of a role as Santa until now. He's the head of administration.) Coach Crane then appears and pulls Mark aside. He has an envelope for him to take to Dr Beal.
-
Liz arrives back at her dorm, but Beal's secretary calls for her to come in to his office right now. Elizabeth leaves quickly, and as she approaches the admin building, she notices the way the athletics complex looms over it from behind. Obvious mention of how symbolic that looks.
Dr. Beal glares at her and mentions how accusatory she and Todd were to Santa. He reminds her that Santa is the head of the Alumni Association and a big donor to the school, and a lot of programs wouldn't be possible without him. He insists that she stop trying to discredit him, or he'll expel her sister for helping Winston Egbert cheat. He points out that according to Winston's statement, he got a copy of Stark's physics test when Jessica was there. And if the twins fight back, he will have to make "these" made public. He tosses something down on the desk for Liz to see and pleasantly comments about how shocking they are. They are the very same photos Liz throws into Jessica's face in the next book. Jessica and Louis, sittin' at a beach house, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Elizabeth is torn between "they spied on my sister!" and "my sister lied to me!" She starts crying, and Beal says she can keep them because he has other copies. He stands and tells her this meeting is over, and so is her investigation. It would be a pointless search for more scandal when SVU has already had enough scandal (thanks to her). He then calls his secretary to escort Liz out. Creepy bastard.
-
As Elizabeth goes to leave, she sees Mark and demands to know why he's back. Dr. Beal orders her not to be rude to anybody in his office - particularly a school employee. This shocks Liz and points out that he's not a student (Beal says he will be next semester). Mark goes to push her out the door. Elizabeth drops the envelope, spilling the photos. Mark sees them and is shocked; Liz grabs them up while sobbing.
Beal orders Mark into his office and vaguely threatens him. "Don't make the same mistake Ms. Wakefield and her friend Mr. Wilkins are making by being curious and overeager."
-
Jessica has arrived safely back at campus. She knows she needs to call the police, but she has to talk to Liz first, because this obviously has something to do with the investigation. She cries into the gift for Louis and grabs her insurance information. As she gets out of the Jeep, somebody calls for her. It's a woman with long, curly black hair. Hey, sounds familiar! She wants to talk to Jessica. Jess doesn't want to, but stops short when the woman mentions "my husband." Jessica turns around slowly and the woman smirks. "My husband is Louis. Stay away from him... If you don't, you'd better look for me in your rearview mirror every single minute of the rest of your life." DUN DUN DUNNNN!!

You know, they almost could have swapped this title with #17's, because there really isn't much of The Other Woman in here till the end. :\
Hope you enjoyed! Sorry I went into so much detail. I'm really glad
cullin74 wrote a shorter one. The actual plot is in there, and extraneous and pointless details are in here, so you guys get the best of both! Wahoo! :D
