SVH Senior Year #32: Road Trip

Nov 27, 2009 01:31

Well, well, well. It's been far too long since we've delved into the emotional and troubled world of Senior Year, but with thanks to eBay, Australia Post and the letter E, we're headed down that road again. Prepare for angst. Seriously. Anyone who's ever read an SY book knows that these characters aren't even people -- they're walking, talking ( Read more... )

YAY!

But Jeremy's family moved cause his relatives were going to give his Dad a job and stuff. So I actually felt happy he stayed. I got a job, illegally, at 15 so I could help my parents with the bills. No one needs that responsibility at that age.

This book is absolutely brilliant (as is your re-cap, as always). Ken Matthews is the biggest failure of all times, and reading about his mopey ass is "exciting" every time.

Also, the characters in this series confuse the shit out of me. Why did they even bother to create the character of Andy? They had a perfectly good "super zany friend" with Winston. Yes, Andy eventually turns out to be gay, but I think they only did that because they realized that Andy and Winston are the exact same person with different hair color. Evan Plummer started off in the series like someone I might have hung out with in high school. Of course, I went to high school in the early to mid-'90's, and so the music I listened to and such was appropriate then, this book was closer to 2000, so he would have horribly backwards. Also, he was not Asian when the series began, but since they apparently couldn't find any blue-eyed, dark haired models with low enough self-esteem to appear on the cover of a SVHSY book, the text within began to reflect the cover, and not the other way around. Jade Wu. . .wasn't she a year behind the twins in SVH? Somehow she has jumped a grade, and instead of being a shy dancer with controlling ( ... )

You know, absolutely nowhere in your (extremely accurate and awesome) first paragraph did I get that you liked SY. I have to say, I feel exactly the same way.

You're right about the journal thing. They ALL do it! And Lila does it too, which is odd.

They hang around to bear witness to Ariel and Jimmy's holy union, though, because if a strange Vegas showgirl tells you it'll be fun to watch a very tall woman marry an almost-midget, then by hell, you'd better have fun! Jeremy suddenly realises just how absurd the whole situation is and starts laughing his ass off.Laughing his ass off. That's real classy Jeremy. Way to ruin the midget/tall wedding :( Those people are all happy on their special night and you LAUGHED AT THEM ( ... )

Thank you! The word 'mancation' is one of my favourites. I just love it.
