I had the absolute best birthday EVER!! At the last minute with some encouragement from co-workers I talked my boss into letting me take my floating holiday early and took the day off. I slept until I woke up - 8:30, spent some time with Maggie, sent her off to school, did some shopping, and read a novel.
We had originally planned to check out a place called 221B Baker Street in the Bellmar but it didn't work out and we ended up at the Elephant Bar. We sat out on the patio and kudos go out to them for being able to accomodate 20+ people with absolutely no notice. The weather was awesome, no one smoked outside, and I have really super great friends who showed to help me celebrate! Thank all of you for being there.
On Saturday I went to the briefest board meeting possible and then off to Paul Derda Rec center for Maggie's birthday party. Maggie had 9 of her school friends come to the pool and they swam, played in the play room, ate pizza, cake and ice cream and then went out to blow bubbles. A good time was had by all.
After that it was date night. Dinner at Carrabas - YUM, YUM. I had the steak marsala - which was devine as aways. After dinner we took ourselves off to the movies and saw Ironman. I give it two thumbs up. It was an awesome movie. I recommend it to anyway.
The only craptastic thing that happened this weekend was that once again I was passed over for a solo. I really am begining to think that Mark will not give me a solo. I just don't think that he has any faith in my singing ability. I did well at my audition - I practiced, I felt good, positive and confident. There was no reason that I saw that I shouldn't have gotten as solo. It feels like status quo at the DWC, with a couple of exceptions the same people got the solos that aways do. I am feeling pretty burnt out on the DWC in general. I bust my butt but I don't feel appreciated AND I don't feel valued by the chorus or by Mark.
