and the good times continue. well, there's still no, but the yes is outweighing the no at the moment. wednesday, i got into a med school i particularly loved and that was very exciting and very surprising as i wasn't expecting to hear until the end of december. so maria and i had mini christmas party with her n'sync cd and my extremely limited number of christmas songs and we sang out of key and it was fun times.
thursday was my italian club meeting. so veneiro's and au bon pain were supposed to deliver at 3:30. meeting is at 4. at 3:40, i get a call from veneiro's delivery man and he's like sorry i'm at 40th street, i'll be there soon. so i wait and wait and at 4, i go down to the lobby with maria, where we are joined by saima. and i call the delivery dude and he's like i'll be there shortly. 4:20 i call the store, who tell me he's looking for parking around the corner, which saima and i go to check on. not true. so i call delivery man again, he says he's looking outside for the building, so i walk out and see shady red van with shady man inside on the phone and i ask him if he's in a red van. he says yes. so i was like stop the car. oh man shadiest man; long dreads in headwrap, braided beard, dirty large van. so he gives us our pastries and whatever and i set up everything and we realize we have an extra box, inside of which there is a nicely wrapped tray of pastries, with an attached note that reads "sorry for your loss, love (i can't remember the name)" so we got someone's funeral pastries, which shows just how awesome our delivery man really was. by then it was 4:45 and i had completely forgotten about the coffee, so i call au bon pain, who never got my order. that made me really happy, of course, since manager dude took my credit card number and everything. i went to au bon pain after and they didn't know what i was talking about, which was even more awesome.
so that night i joined dhanu and crew at 8 for the midnight showing of harry potter. there were 9 theaters showing it at the cinema down the block, all of which were sold out, so there were mad lines on the street, marked by police lines. it was freezing and we had hot chocolate and hung out and had good times till 10, when we were the first theater to be allowed in. first there was drama, because one of us was missing, but when dhanu and i got in, we started RUNNING to get to the "good seats" since everyone else was. and since dhanu is crazy. that was extremely funny, as were the people dressed up as characters and the people who were like "omg i like met daniel radcliffe and he asked me to dance and asked for my number" because that would really happen, since he is FIFTEEN. there was a shady old man next to me, who, after i left for a minute, lifted up the armrest between us and that was no. why old men were even there, i don't know, so i switched seats. anyway, the movie was amazing. at like 3 am we head back home, along with pretty much everyone because im' guessing a lot of us were nyu students. the streets were full of people like it was daytime around union square, it was sooooo weird. anyway, it was an awesome time, documented in pictures of course :)
friday was pretty uneventful, minus yan eating lunch with maria and i. yan is my hero. yesterday, work was good times because we now have two more teachers. along with the one teacher and four tutors from before, we now have seven staff members in one room, which is pretty ridiculous. but i love working with the AP kids, and it gives me more opportunity for that, so i don't care. that night, after doing absolutely nothing with maria rather than working for awhile, i went to the european potluck thing we sponsored with le cercle français. fun times, good food, and exciting trip home carrying several boxes of pizza.
last week was yes and next week is thanksgiving and i'm starting my real actual project in lab tomorrow so i'm excited for the next few days.
