Just to be clear there!!

I'm feeling stressed while waiting for a phone call, waiting always does this to me. That's why I hate phones in particular, you always end up hanging around it and waiting :p.
Classes haven't begun yet and I'm quite frustrated because I'm bored and I really want to have interesting stuff to fill my life notwithstanding work and stuff like waiting phone calls lol.

Okay stop with that.

Some time ago I wanted to post something about the cancellation of Stargate SG-1. Then I didn't and now I'm not really sure I want to anymore but I have some free time to kill, so why not?

When I first heard about the cancellation, I wasn't really surprised, I even thought hey ten seasons is already great really. I felt a little sad but not at all resentful and I was mostly feeling sad for the cast and crew but I really thought, ten years on this show, I'm sure they will welcome the change... But that was before I learnt the truth.

It made me remind about something I said to myself a long time ago, that I should never ever put faith in networks and companies.

It isn't a big surprise to see the reaction of Sci Fi on this matter. And I looked inside myself for why it felt like that history repeats itself. Then I remembered, it was the whole buffy/angel case all over. How Buffy got bought by another network and how the WB had screwed up the scheduling/airing/treatment of Angel afterwards. Moving the show at odd days, hours... Same thing happened to SG-1 which has the weirdest schedule possible. Not surprise that the ratings weren't good afterwards, people have life, during summer they go on holidays, don't they?

Anyway, now I'm resentful.

Seeing the internet fans movement trying to save the show for an 11th season, I can only feel it is in vain but at the same time, I feel like it is worthwhile even if just so that we are heard.

The core of it is that the whole situtation is unfair.

It is unfair because the crew and cast did sign for a 11th season.

It is unfair because the 10th season has succeeded to renew the show and I was one of the doubtful ones that felt pretty cold with the change of cast in the 9th season which I didn't like by the way.

It is unfair that Sci Fi are more concerned with earning MORE money than being grateful and loyal to probably THE tvshow that had made them what they are now.

It is unfair that SG-1 doesn't end as it deserves with a whole season as a closure.

And it is absolutely unfair that the fans of all the countries in the world have no word to say about a show they had supported through the years (I live in France)

So yeah I have reasons to be resentful but I'm not surprised. I guess I've learnt my lesson.

In the end, life goes on.

I have no doubt the franchise is strong and will go on too.

And I still like Stargate SG-1 and will continue to wander in the fandom here on Internet.

personal, stargate sg-1
