So yesterday Toadlily and Tungsten show up with the saddest of sad puppies, and being the giant suckers that we are Melissa and I had no choice but to take the poor waif in. Upon arrival the girl, a Maltese mix of some sort, turned out to be quite sweet and quite skittish. We know little of her previous arrangements save that they were goddamn awful. Do you want to keep her or ultimately find a new, good home for her? My sister works at an animal shelter and though they don't subsidize vet bills, they might take her in (and take care of her vet needs) and she could foster with you until her health & mental state are recovered, whereupon they would find a good home for her. I wanted to keep her but she wound up going back with the people who rescued her. That's awesome your sister works there. Melissa and I fostered a dog from there once and her mom wound up adopting it :) We really liked that shelter. Thanks for the advice we will keep it in mind the next time a situation comes up like this. :)

Sounds like a happy ending (at least a happy ending in the works).

Yes, Sadie really enjoys working there and has a lot of great things to say about it. If we end up lookig for cats to adopt years in the future, that is where I'd go.
