Some quick notes:
My six month absence from this journal has no formal cause, except that I was busy. Busy and lazy, but mainly busy. So, to all whom these presents, greetings! I trust you are well, or that it got better.
Nikki is in New York for the week, making me the Uber 4-armed whirling daddy-monster. Ollie, Teagan, and I took a trip through Wal-Mart tonight, and it went as expected - few bargains, many screams, and family-sized shells & Cheese. I have some dinners planned this week, and several involve actual cooking. So, we'll see.
In preparation for the ordeal, I took today off and built a new computer. I stayed (barely) under budget, and got a sweet looking case out of the deal. I'm not sure how thrilled Nikki will be about the Blue Neon Lights on the side, but the damn thing has three fans, and is still quieter than my old & busted Gateway. I did the math, and fully 20% of my budget ($150 out of $750 total) went to fucking Windows XP Pro. In the immortal words of Peyton Manning, "Right there, when that happened, a little bit of pee came out, in my pants." (See also: Peyton Manning hosted Saturday Night Live this week - it was hilarious! And, next week: Riann Wilson of The Office)
The choice was either drop $100 repairing my old rig, or build new. I also wanted a project for the week. But everything went as planned, and all that remains to do is transfer a hard drive from the old computer to the new. All hardware worked right out of the box, I was able to figure out how to wire everything, and it purrs like a kitten. A very quiet, tipsy, kitten that glows blue.
I have a hard time remembering all the crap I'd post about, so I will re-acclimate myself to this poor-man's blogosphere, before I ramble further.
