My first pair of glasses came in. I'm still getting used to the prescription-for some reason, near objects appear to be smaller, probably due to some
parallax distortion. (To see what I mean, try this experiment: The next time you're riding in a car with sunglasses on, look out the window with a lens on one eye only. If you switch which eye is looking through a lens, objects passing by should appear to be "small/slow" or "big/fast." It's an odd sensation that can make trees in the right-of-way look like bonsai.) I think the prescription in my right eye is just barely off; bright objects on a dark background have a negligible amount of light smudging. The sensation that my right eye is trying harder to focus will probably go away in a few days.
Today is one of the few warm sunny days we've had so far this year, and I took the opportunity to wear a T-shirt that Jenny got me for Christmas. Titled
"Celestial Constellation," it's a deep blue shirt with an antique star chart screenprinted in blue on a field of stars. (This and other nifty designs are available from Etsy seller
nonfictiontees.)
I'm gearing up for various class projects over the next three weeks. I hope the warm weather persists long enough to brighten my mood and boost my motivation…although if it's too nice outside, I may be tempted to slack off and enjoy the outdoors.
And, uh, Happy Valentine's Day. Not that all of your lovey/romantic activity should be saved up for just one day.

Lesson learned from Saturday's Mediterranean-themed party: After learning how to blow smoke rings using a hookah, pace yourself when practicing the trick. Once the wine wears off and the nicotine takes over, the stimulant-induced jolt may make you feel sick. (Still, now I can check that ability off my Manly Man list.)
