this NIU thing... why does these keep happening? It seems like I remember NIU starting a psi chapter when I was active and being part of our district, which just makes it hit closer to home. No one loves a college campus more than I do, and any of us that went to Kent know how much a tragedy like this puts an indelible blemish of horror and pain which affects the university for generations.
Kent State was different though. It wasn't part of a trend of psychotics taking their mental illness out on innocent college students. You're just sitting in a science lecture and someone opens fire. Its the fourth shooting at a U.S. school in a week. The FOURTH in a WEEK. Something is wrong with our world, there's a greater problem going on here that's making this happen, but what?? I feel just sick about it.
*edit, the internet says its the fifth school shooting. They've been in Ohio, Louisiana, Tennessee and California schools and killed five. And Cleveland no less!!
*double edit- I just read up on the Cleveland shooting. Holy hell. How do 14 year olds get to the point of shooting the kids and teachers at their school? Neglect and abuse are the only imaginable things to me that would turn a kid into that. Which, if a child is a monster, shouldn't the parents be held somewhat responsible??
