Thornton Dial exhibit, art, blah

Thornton Dial
After a lovely omlette today, D and I went to the IMA to see Thornton Dial's artwork at the
special exhibit. I've seen it 2 times already because of the classes I teach. I had some extra tickets and wanted to share the experience with Dave.
(The exhibition can mostly be seen HERE, but keep in mind, the up-close and personal experience is far different than seeing the work on a computer screen. Without the description, and the depth of seeing it in person - it can appear to be meaningless trash. Here are some Videos about him and his work, also at the IMA website.)
I am inspired by the fact that each work has real meaning. I am also fascinated by the fact that I have no clue what the work is truly about until I read the description, and then (rather than feeling like it was a BS description for a crazy work of art) the meaning becomes clear and obvious. The work is large, and 3D, and textured, and varied - I can stand in front of it and get lost in the details, meaning, bits and pieces. The work is also dark and eerie at times, thus appealing to my darkling self.
Thankfully the exhibition has been extended so my next class can see it!

also, I feel I need to work bigger.

ART
Continuing to work on a small piece today, started with oils.
I keep getting distracted, its like my art stamina is weak.
I am also quite hot today, but I don't blame the heat. I've been feeling this way for a while.
...
my place is also very cluttered right now.
...
I think I'll drag a fan up from the basement.
...
and maybe avoid the internet for the rest of the ... already late night.
*hope*
