Hole in my apartment wall.

So as I type (8:20am on Tuesday), there is a man in my teeny one room apartment replacing my front door. Why should my front door be replaced, you might ask? Well, a little less than two months ago, I drive back into my apartment complex after spending Saturday night away and Sunday afternoon babysitting my nephews and I notice that the apartment next to mine is boarded up and the light in my apartment is on. So I semi-calmly walk to my front door and notice my deadbolt lying on the ground next to my front door, however, my doorknob lock, which I never use, was locked. So I walk in and notice that my entire apartment is just covered in blackness and smells like burnt plastic. So what would you do in this situation? You'd call your landlord, right? I mean, I would have expected that HE would have called ME since my fucking door was busted in, but no. So I call him, no answer. Leave a message. Stayed at Brett's that night cause I couldn't stand the smell. Call my landlord the next day, no answer, leave a message. Stayed at Brett's again. This time, I inform my professor whom I am TAing for and she offers for me to stay with her. Sweet gesture. Next day, call landlord one more time. Answer. Fucking finally. Apparently, the apartment next to me had caught fire Saturday evening because her TV caught alight. He kept assuring me that it WASNT faulty wiring, This made me more nervous. So, he said that he would get my door fixed, the smoke damage in my apartment cleaned, and would put an ozone fan in to remove the smell. Well, the ozone fan had to be in all day, so another night at Brett's. (it is this event that has made me stay at his every night since then, with the exception of last night). So the smell gets "removed" (I can still smell it sometimes, especially in my bathroom), and they come clean the blackness off my countertops. When they clean it, I was told "My boss will be back in the next week to fix your door". THIS WAS A MONTH AND A HALF AGO! I have not been pressing because I am hardly ever in my apartment due to work/being social/staying the night at Brett's so I never pushed it. However, I finally did last week because I was tired of constantly worrying that my apartment would be broken into.

And so when some DEAFENING blows, he removed the door frame. Now there is just a hole where my door was previous. I feel vulnerable. And sleepy. I came home at 3:30am and woke up at 8. So sleepy.

In other news, I feel HORRIBLY overworked this semester. Just in the past week I have had to:

1) Do a group project for directing. This meant that we took the lovers dialogue from Midsummer and adapted it into a new story. There were six people in my group, and I ended up writing the fucking 15-minute skit with another girl, who, might I add, is the only non-theatre major in my group. So we had to write, star in, and collectively direct this scene. It was such an awful experience that taught me nothing about directing, and I am telling my professor that in my response.

2) Had a two question "take home midterm" for directing given on Friday and due yesterday, the same day my group was presenting. The midterm ended up being 8pages when I think she was expecting 3-4. Oh well. It is done.

3) Had 60 papers to grade on our production of the Grapes of Wrath. Still working on them.

4) Had to compile research on the beginnings of tragicomedy in Italy and England for my Script Analysis class. I hate that I was so excited for Script Analysis, and the class has now turned into Genre Study.

5) Had to read Life is a Dream, which is a surprisingly good play, and do an analysis.

6) Had to read The Shoemaker's Holiday for Ren. Seminar. Would not recommend.

7) Presented my prospectus for my final paper in Renaissance Seminar. John Webster is a creepy motherfucker and I love it.

8) Find ways to not go insane.

All I can say is that I am very much ready for break next week. Granted, I will spend the entire break researching thesis topics, trying to find something to direct next semester (if all goes well, I will be presenting a Greek/Roman play in the outdoor amphitheater we have on campus. Any suggestions?), researching more on tragicomedy (blech), and formally writing my prospectus for my final Ren. Sem paper/researching ideas for my next presentation. Spring break sounds relaxing, doesn't it?

Alright, well, I think I am going to do some research/make some biscuits while the dude is still here fixing my door. The frame has been off for a few minutes now. Please tell me he didn't forget the door ...
