Jumping on the bandwagon, yet again

However, this time, I am not jumping on the bandwagon of quizzes or surveys or games, but of updating. Apparently everyone's been doing it lately, and I have been a slacker, so here it goes:

Hamlet went off pretty well. Actually, that is a lie ... the show itself only had one good night out of 4, but I mean it went well because I got to hang out with some truly incredible people (and some truly crazy ones) and it gave me something to do. It also made me appreciate the play itself more. Hamlet was the play that I had read, but never studied. Pretty much, all we did was study and we staged in 4 days. Whoo hoo. I really love the play, though our version, despite having it's beautiful points, kinda sucked. It was mostly based on the fact that the person playing Hamlet ended up having a ton of family issues, and he could not devote the time to the show. :(.

So, literally the second after I finished ADing Hamlet, I was SMing Greater Tuna. This has been a much less stressful experience, though rehearsals have taken me away from doing work for school in these last few critical days. The show opens tomorrow, and it is going to be good .... I hope.

Speaking of school, tomorrow marks my last day of teaching!!! I give my last final tomorrow and then the little brats graduate on Thursday! My heart is glad, though, I fear that I need a summer job. I need more money before moving to Kentucky.

And Kentucky ... I cannot wait until I am fully registered. I am driving up in a week or so to see the school and then to Louisville to see my sister and nephews. I emailed the director of the program (whom I will also be working for next year as a graduate assistant), and he looks forward to meeting me. I just hope I am as good in person to him as I look on paper.

Oooo. So Saturday night, I aided LSUA in putting on a Cabaret at our local museum. I finally got over my fear of singing in public by myself! I sang "Turn Back, O Man" from Godspell and this was my mom's reaction afterwards: "Wow. You were actually good. I mean, I wasnt expecting you to be, but you were." Thanks mom.

Sigh. I had so much more to update on, but now I have lost it all. Oh wait! One more thing. So I dont know if this is an event everywhere, but in LA we have this thing called "Literary Rally" that we send students to compete in on High School and Jr. High levels. So I sent three of my most competent students in American Studies, and I was hopefully that they would place well and move on to state. They come back yesterday and say "they gave us the Louisiana History exam". What?! I asked how that happened, and apparently they did not have an American Studies section because they did not think anyone was taking it. WTF?! I was so angry. Ergh. So I really have no way to gauge how much I have actually taught these students. I am saddened.

However, they seem to be doing well on their finals, so I am pretty happy about that. I am ready to be a student again. Only a few more months!
