Vitamin D Diary



Last Saturday (5/16/09), I picked up some Vatamin D3 from GNC, and started taking it along with some Calcium, Magnesium,and Zinc vitamins I had floating around. I'm supposed to take 5000iu / day (iu is Ineternational Units, whatever the hell that means... I've not gotten that far in my internet research), but some research I've done indicates that taking high levels of VitD without warming up to it can make you feel like crap. Ergo, that day, I started with 1000iu + CM&Z.

That night, I had mad night sweats. Like, waking up in the morning with my shirt visibly wet and a me shaped damp spot on the sheets. Awesome. I also felt like shit... I spent the day on the couch feeling fevorish and head-achy. Was I getting sick? Was I feeling the affects of the VitD? I realized late in the afternoon that Matilda was actually doing more or less what she is supposed to (and more or less on time, for once!), which could pretty much explain all my feeling crappy.

I've been taking my VitD and CM&Z around 1-2pm every day.

Monday night I came home from work and was very energetic... I dare say hyper. Clear headed, brain firing faster than I could keep up with it.

Tuesday I spent a couple of hours trying to sort my brain out at work... I was very scattered in the morning. Alert, but having a hard time focusing.

The office ladies room one floor up (the one I normally grace with my ass cheeks) is now closed due to remodeling... so we've got to go up three floors instead of one to get our piss on. Thusly, I've been able to watch how my knees feel very closely... still achy, starting on the first flight, even though I have no problems taking the extra floors in terms of being out of breath or anything.

Yesterday I upped my dose from 1000iu to 2000iu... no obvious ill affects related though I did have some heart burn a few hours later. Stayed up too late last night though, so hard to say if that's because of the VitD or just me being an idiot.
