So I spent yesterday in a misty haze of clogged sinuses; oxygen deprived brain functions simply weren't up to 100%. And yet one whimsical decision made in the late early evening, briefly meditating on a stomach full of 4 samosas, 3 pork chops and a jelly donut, turned out to be nigh brilliant. Sure, I'd already seen Kung Fu Hustle on a television screen, and in fact was already planning to see it Sunday as well, but suddenly my apartment just seemed so confining, not nearly as big as the silver screen. Which, incidentally, is right up the street. This was a momentous choice for two reasons: A) through the auspices of fate, assisted by a charming little bird, I got in with a free ticket (for The Interrogator, no less), and (2) Kung Fu Hustle is a kajillion times better in the thee-ater. Hot damn! So much that I missed before was right there, clear as day. And that's a big deal for such a visually rich movie as this. I don't think I've ever seen as artful a production of creating a live-action cartoon. Genius? I dunno, that's a tough one, let's call it visionary. I know I've seen nothing like it. So now I suppose I have to find some more of Stephen Chow's movies. Anyway, it's awesome, I haven't got the words, everybody go see it. Like, now.
Also, roasted red plums are delicious.
