Little Miss Sunshine.

Yes, I am making progress, I have watched Little Miss Sunshine today, just finished actually. I also watched The Librarian: Return to King Salomon's Mines and I just started Blast from the Past. The day is young and I have a lot of movies to watch.

Anyway, Little Miss Sunshine. I have had this movie on DVD the day it was in the stores, I don't honestly know why, since I didn't really want to watch it that much. Okay, I know why, but it's nobody's business. The reason why is long gone from my life and that's more than fine. So, I heard a lot of different opinions about this film. I heard it's great, I heard it's terrible, I heard it's mediocre.

SPOILERS BELOW!

And I gotta say... It was positively disappointing. I mean, I expected something worse. Steve Carrell was an enormous surprise, right? Because I've been watching Michael Scott in The Office for the last half year and finally I get to see him in a dramatic role! Great, fantastic actor, I gotta say. I didn't even know he stared there, I didn't read the names on the cover.
So, the movie. I enjoyed it, it was heartwarming. I didn't like the scene with stuffing a dead body in a trunk of a car, but the following scene with a broken car-horn was pretty hilarious.

I generally loved the connection between Dwayne, the silent emo nihilist and Frank, the suicidal gay teacher. And their conversation that took place during the peagant was the second best scene in the movie. The best one was when Dwayne learned that he's colour-blind. That was really a twist, I did not expect that, honestly. And I'm rarely surprised by movies.

Anyway, the dialogue is below, beucase it deserves writing down.

Dwayne: I wish I could just sleep until I was eighteen and skip all this crap-high school and everything-just skip it.
Frank: Do you know who Marcel Proust is?
Dwayne: He's the guy you teach.
Frank: Yeah. French writer. Total loser. Never had a real job. Unrequited love affairs. Gay. Spent 20 years writing a book almost no one reads. But he's also probably the greatest writer since Shakespeare. Anyway, he uh... he gets down to the end of his life, and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered, Those were the best years of his life, 'cause they made him who he was. All those years he was happy? You know, total waste. Didn't learn a thing. So, if you sleep until you're 18... Ah, think of the suffering you're gonna miss. I mean high school? High school-those are your prime suffering years. You don't get better suffering than that.
Dwayne: You know what? Fuck beauty contests. Life is one fucking beauty contest after another. School, then college, then work... Fuck that. And fuck the Air Force Academy. If I want to fly, I'll find a way to fly. You do what you love, and fuck the rest.
Frank: I'm glad you're talking again, Dwayne. You're not nearly as stupid as you look.
