So I got double gifted a copy of Hoard, which I previously had no real interest in playing. That said it's kind of a neat game. However, let it be said that playing maps and trying to get the gold medal achievement seems nigh impossible. Especially if there's any more then 0 cpu enemy dragon players.
You have 10 minutes to get x amount of gold in the game's basic "Treasure" gameplay mode. Often it's 200k, and you have ZERO room for error in that 10 minutes to not be making effectively like 2000 gold every 5-10 seconds.
This means if you die (a common, very easy thing to do past the first 3 minutes of gameplay) your score multiplier drops to nothing and you LOSE. Because any kind of set back at ALL makes that medal unachievable. This is a very frustrating gimmick to whats been an otherwise enjoyable gimmick.
Sadly I just spent the last 2 hours or so trying to do a single map and the best I did was get 130k by the time the map ended (I think I died...once.)
Not only is the CPU dragon(s) against you (and believe me, they'll all team up to beat on you), an increasing number of environmental hazards start rushing at you when there's about 4 minutes left.
I wouldn't mind the hazzard, but the fact that if anything goes wrong evar you have to start over is really annoying. Also the game is prone to crashing. Apparently either lowering the detail settings or going windowed mode sometimes/commonly fix this issue. Luckily for me it did.
Anyway, sorry as usual for the length between updates.
