The hit counter does make me squirrelly
Remix is open. I've had to turn off hit counts being displayed for stories I have written, because every time I see that someone else has opened the file without commenting, I kind of want to shake them and say, "NO! You have to comment! You are obligated by all that is holy and good!" which is something I don't even actually believe, I just get kind of crazy when challenges go live.
(Weirdly, I don't have this problem when I've just posted fic in order to be posting fic; it's only in the context of challenges that my insecurity hits like the fist of an angry god.)
Anyway, When You're Good to Mama (The Grateful Remix) is terrific, it takes that tension of "Does Neal want to be here? Does he have a better choice than this?" in the original and ratchets it up and plays it out beautifully, and it goes through the end of the season and pokes at that, in the context of a June/Neal relationship.
It's awesome, and you should go read it.
