Kate: I thought she made a better song choice, found a song by a youthful singer she could relate to, and then … sang it poorly. Oh, Kate. They should have thrown you back in the pool
Siobhan's performance of The House of the Rising Sun was the first time I understood why people are rooting for her. It was a great vocal, a terrific use of dynamics, and really very pretty. I could have used a little more intensity, but other than that, t was great.
Lacey was not as big a disaster as usual. But I still want her to go home.
Katelyn: That was a good vocal that was overly restrained because it was clammed up behind the keys.
Didi: Awesome! Great interpretation, great vocal, and the direct stare while playing a guitar really worked.
Paige's performance of Smile was amazing. I love people who can keep a decent vocal while they sound like they are (or they are actually) choking back tears. Her interpretation, her vocal, her performance were all excellent. The judges were a thousand percent wrong.
Crystal gave a pro performance. Go, mama.
Lily, there are certain songs that just need to be sung straight out, they don't need trills or frills or quirkiness. The epitome of such a song is, of course, fever, but most of Patsy Cline's catalog fits i that category as well.
Except for their complete misreading of Paige, the judging was pretty much on this week.
Voting for 2, 4, 5, 6, 7.
