My most serious problem with V at the moment

Why isn't anyone questioning their totes-human appearance? Is this supposed to be a world without science-fiction, in the same way that the 4400 appeared to have developed in a world without X Men comics? It is really, freaking obvious that the cake is a lie, here. We share 95% plus of our genetic appearance with other primates, but bonobos do not mistakenly think gorillas are bonobos. You will never run into a chimp whom you can see, hear, and smell and think perhaps they are a human with some sort of birth defect. So, the chances of alien visitors looking exactly like human beings is just ... no, you guys, not happening. Tool manipulating appendages, yes. Sensory input at a distance (i.e. something like eyes, or something like echolocation, or an understanding of smell in a way that allows for creating a 3-d portrait of the world at a distance). Advanced communication, including direct, one-to-many, and preserved/replayable types, yes, clearly.

Bipedal? Could be. Or could fly, or do cilia, or swim through water.

Forward-facing bifocal/vapor-input/ingestion at the top of the head? This is actually a pretty silly arrangement, in many, many ways. 360 degree perception would be much more useful, and it might be better to have your ingestion point protected and towards the center of mass, so shit doesn't fall into it accidentally.

Hair at top of head and in place for secondary sex characteristics, instead of either naked skin all over or hair/fur/feathers/scales all over? Improbable, as demonstrated by the great rarity of this arrangement on Earth.

Pink/brown/orange coloring like ours? Not out of the question, but not very likely. First of all, their visual spectrum matching ours seems improbable, so the shades to either blend into or stand out in the environments in which they evolved would seem likely to be different.

And, really, why are they roughly human size? Even if you posit that four-to-six feet is the perfect compromise between big enough to avoid being eaten by lots of predators and too big to gather enough food in the normal human range territory, this is influenced by the size of everything else, which is influenced by Earth's gravity. How likely is it that aliens developed at roughly 1g?

Somebody should be asking these questions on this show. I find it really annoying that no one is saying, "Clearly, the Vs are manipulating their appearance, because no species is going to evolve to look just like human beings naturally."

Honestly, doing the bumpy-forehead thing for their mammal suits would have the benefit of making people less likely to think of the possibility of infiltration. If we know that we can spot them in a crowd, why would we ever think of them as being hidden among us?

Also, why is the Fifth Column the Fifth Column? I mean, I guess it's easier to pretend that you're a bunch of weird human beings if you talk about this stuff in a human language, but why aren't the Vs on the ship talking in a native language? No one on Earth who has given it three entire seconds thought thinks that English is their native language.

I know, I know. Most of the answers to these questions are: the production is not made of money or they are trying not to alienate people who are not into scifi quoi speculative fiction.

The thing is, the pacing is really weird on this show, and I think it's a really good thing their production got shut down so they could retool. Like, I think there's the possibility of a good TV show underneath, but they haven't quite dug it out yet.

P.S. It is sort of frustrating that the priest does not have any understanding whatsoever of what the words "secret conspiracy" means, but at least it's a priest who is clueless about this. I mean, I suppose they teach you about the ancient martyrs in seminary, but probably more about their theology and sacrifice than about the people who successfully set up secret worship services and converted people who were not imperial secret agents to the way.
