I see an Ugly Betty or Eureka story as probably being humorous.
I see a Buffy story as having an ugly undercurrent of violence.
I see a Greys's, Big Love, or SGA story as able to support any kind of tone.
If you pick Eureka or SGA, something science-fictiony or worldbuildingish would be awesome.
Hot sex is nice, but not required.
