I don't actually know what this is. Is just sort of happened. I'll go do something productive now, like update Praetextus or Canticulum or something.
Pairing: Jason/Tim
Verse: DCU
Rating: PG
Summary: Jason is a pollutant. This gives him a chance to remedy his effects.
--
Jason watches as Dick walks Tim around Gotham City Park. It’s a slow thing. Tim’s head injury has made his legs about as effective as wooden stick and he keeps trying to speak, but his words do not often make sense.
And he has to keep asking Dick “what is that building,” and “what is that place.”
“Where are my mom and dad?”
It hurts to watch. Jason’s heart has holes in it, a boat that will no longer bounce upon the seas.
Because Tim doesn’t remember anything.
“What happened to me?”
And Jason backing away from this. He’s backing away from Tim, because everyone and their mother knows that Jason is bad news for everyone. Tim’s friends have never approved of him, much less the Gotham press. So Jason watches Tim practice walking from a building adjacent to the park and keeps telling himself that it’s time to leave now, before he chickens out and allows himself to pollute Tim’s life again.
“Who are you?”
(Because that head injury is because Jason has underestimated the preparedness of that drug ring.)
Dick smiles and hugs Tim when he makes it to the tree where he is standing. He grabs Tim and spins him, even though Tim is flailing his arms. Jason eases himself backwards and begins heading back to his apartment, his boots pounding in time with his heart and his headache.
He has a bottle of vodka at home with his name on it.
