Ah, more fun today with our sad system. We have some sort of job that bulk loads company accounts from an XML file into our database. Well it's evidently taking twenty hours to run since the data is poorly formatted and the Java stuff can't manage it well. It looked something like this:

About a billion times.

It should look more like this to make the dataload programs happy:

With just one enclosure per company. Anyway, everyone got in a tizzy, since it's running dog slow in Java. I got pulled early back from lunch and our Director said 'Hey, can you write a Perl script to fix this?' Thirty minutes later the data is all fixed up and I can go back to snoozing. Now we'll see much time it takes to load.
