Angela was waiting for Clayton to come to her
appartment. He was taking her out that night, and he had
promised that it would be just the two of them and that she
would really enjoy it. Finally she heard a knock on the
door and let him in.
“Hey,” she said, smiling.
“You’re not wearing that, are you?” he said. She
looked down at her blue jeans and black sweater.
“What’s wrong with this?” she asked.
“I thought we’d dress up a bit,” he said. She looked
at what he was wearing. He was also wearing jeans and a
sweater.
“We’re dressed the same,” she said.
“This is dressed up for me,” he said. “But not for
you.”
“So what should I wear then?”
“I don’t know, a skirt?”
“A skirt.”
“Yeah, why not?”
“It’s freezing outside.”
“So? We’ll be inside.”
“Aren’t we walking there?”
“We can take a cab.”
“I’m not standing around waiting for a cab in a skirt
when it’s cold out,” she said.
“Oh, come on! I just wanted us to have a special
night.”
“Fine, I’ll change,” she said. He started following
her into the bedroom, but she turned and said, “Wait here.”
Ten minutes later she came out of the room wearing a
colourful dress over top of her jeans with an open button up
sweater.
“That took forever,” Clayton said.
“You’re the one who wanted me to change.”
“And this is what you’re wearing?”
“Yes.”
“A skirt with pants.”
“Yes. Is there a problem with that?”
“It looks stupid.”
“You look stupid.”
“Are you gonna change your clothes, or not?”
“I already did, and I’m not changing again.”
“Okay, fine,” Clayton said. “Let’s go.”
They went to the bar that they always went to with
Clayton’s friends. When they got there, Clayton spotted his
friends right away.
“Come on,” he said, leading her over to them.
“This is our special night out?” she hissed.
“Yeah. Why, what were you expecting?”
“Something that we don’t do all the time anyway.”
“I thought you liked it here.”
“I’m getting kinda sick of it.”
“I’m trying my best, here. You’re so negative about
everything!”
“I can’t believe you made me dress up for this,” she
said.
