Amongst the dull iron hue of the Fire Nation rig, a sparkle of blue caught his golden eyes. Blue. Just like her. Blue eyes set in smooth, mocha-colored skin. A friend of the Avatar; a Waterbender who had released his one hope to regain his honor.
Nonchalantly, he bent over to pick it up, and then held the sparkling blue pendant in the light of the dying sun.
I wonder if she knows it’s the same color as her eyes…
“Nephew! What did you find?”
Iroh’s genial voice went by unnoticed by the Fire Nation Prince as he paced to and fro on the iron rig, deep in contemplation. Blue…Just like her. Zuko wondered if she had noticed it missing yet. She had always had it on, since day one. Since the first time he saw her in the snow white landscape of the South Pole.
He didn’t notice that he had stopped to stare out towards the ocean. The sky was blue. The ocean was blue. She was blue. Waterbender. When did he start noticing how much blue surrounded him? When did blue become her? Or did she become blue?
Later that night, he was still brooding. This necklace, that girl. She was probably missing it by now. Her face would be flushed and slightly panicked, but beautiful in the moonlight.
A smirk tugged at his lips, Not so tough now, are you?
He furrowed his brow.
What if he really did make her cry? The prince felt his heart tighten a bit as the thought crossed his mind. Would her idiot brother comfort her? Maybe, but the so-called “warrior” seemed too…oblivious.
A frown set onto his lips.
Would the Avatar do it? They seemed fairly close…Would he wrap his arms around her, whisper in her ear that everything was alright? He was supposed to save the world, so of course he would make it alright! Will she turn to him, a flush still on her face as she hugs him tight, telling him that she lo-
He stood up abruptly as flames danced around his room.
“I need to find her.”
“Find who, nephew?”
He let out a nervous cough, “…I meant, I need her to find the Avatar.”
Iroh just raised a knowing eyebrow at the young prince, mumbling as he walked out the door, “Whatever you say…”
When did his world become blue?---------

But he-And I would have-Why…!
She felt like she couldn’t breathe and she felt like the hottest flames were incinerating the very depths of her soul without mercy.
I really thought…
There wasn’t enough time to dwell before both flames of the Fire Nation were driving straight towards them. This was supposed to be normal, right? But mistakenly, she had hoped for something else. Teammates, friendship…love?
It could never be. It had ended before it had even started.
…you changed.
