I skipped out on Episode 2 because it didn't feel it was a stellar episode but this week it was just really poor. During
Sunday's episode, the best two performances were sadly the pair that were put into the elimination round because of how people voted from last week and sadly enough, those two groups happened to be pretty strong the week before. The crews that remained overall are weak and the ones with the most potential have started to get lazy in their performance because there isn't that much competition such as what happened with Massive Monkeys yet it's so strange that the stronger groups are the ones that are being put in the bottom rankings with a nod to Rhythm City and Southern Movement this week. The weakest group this week was the one that was voted highly from last week.
One possibility behind this happened during Season 1 a long time ago where voters had fan favorites because they did one really cool thing at the beginning but then never did anything better since or even worse, got significantly worse in their performances in later competitions but they were still advancing because people were voting on them being a favorite from weeks past rather than who was best during that week. I think that's what's happening this season again because the groups whose votes are higher than their performances happen to be the more gimmicky groups. Case in point, Afroborike, the all-Hispanic group, who just have been rated weaker by the judges week to week, still are getting high votes. Other groups are getting imbalanced votes with their performances too.
Overall, the strongest group currently in terms of their past performances have been Rhythm City but that's not saying much given it hasn't been reflected in their votes. Following them are We Are Heroes, Vogue Evolution, and Massive Monkeys but sadly all three groups suffer from some ailment in their performances to really take themselves from just being a gimmick or even just a vainly hoped contender. Massive Monkeys are just getting lazily boring in their routines even though they have the skills to do some pretty amazing feats from their history. We Are Heroes are incredibly quirky and energetic but if you go too far out there with your routines then you might suffer in the quality to pull them off with finesse. Vogue Evolution is rather in between We Are Heroes and Massive Monkeys on this scale in that they have incredible energy and they certainly have the dedication to polish their performance but they're starting to show that they're too stuck into their primary dance style that if they're not careful then they'll start to look repetitive.
After this episode, many fans are wondering from the rather lack-luster performances of the past new season...has the bar been set too high from previous seasons? Have indeed we reached our limit for awesome performances? One would think maybe certain routines have been repeated far too frequently since seasons of yore in the first season but then how does one account for Season 3 being almost arguably the best season yet in terms of just consistently close competitions and mind-blowing stunts? I dare say that Season 4 just has a dullest performances overall in its three episodes to any three episodes of the other seasons.
