I have been living under a rock

Even though the Harry Potter Books is what everybody is reading, everybody is talking about and everybody is raving about, I really never bothered with the series until now.

I've finally got the Harry Potter books! ... )

Wow thanks for that, that gives me more insight to the books.

I view this as a children's book, yet I see a lot of adults reading it on the train, and even the book covers have a choice between the children's and the adults version, so I guess its a book series for all ages, or one where adults get to "release" their inner child in them LOL. I guess it makes sense though that the themes are more mature with each book.

You make me wanna read the books more now! :) I bought the box set, and only had the first 6 books, I ordered them before the 7th and final book came out, but I have to get through the first six books first before I even consider getting the final one.

Thank you so much for your input *hug*

Your money is DEFINITELY well spent! The first book starts out a bit slow because it's got so much to introduce but I don't think you'll regret buying the set. :) And don't watch the movies before you read the books otherwise it'll ruin the suspense (although the movies do deviate quite a bit from certain things in the books). Enjoy your reading! I'm with you and wish that I had time to read more like I used to.

I have started the first book and its OK so far, but glad to know it gets better afterwards, so I should keep on reading :)

Glad I didn't waste my money ;) And no, I don't intend on watching the films before reading the books, are the movies as good?

It sucks that I don't read that much, but the internet has taken over the world LOL!!

The movies are fine when taken for what they are. They're nowhere near as good as the books, though, which is usually the case. And I know how you feel about reading. I used to always have my nose in a book but now my eyes are glued to the computer screen, haha. :P

I agree, movies are never as good as the books they are based on. I can't think of a movie that is better than the books (oh wait, I don't read anymore, so how would I know?? LMAO). I might watch the movies AFTER I have read all the books. See if I like the books first :) but by judging by all the comments here, I think I will like the books he he!

One note to make- The books are AWESOME, but what makes HP even more awesome is the vast and amazing fandom. The participants are so amazingly creative and awesome.

Once you've read them all, if you're nuts about them, I suggest you check out hogwarts_elite. It's my favorite conglomeration of fans. :)

Yeah I agree with you on that! The fandom is crazy, you see heaps of icons on LJ related to HP and you hear what some crazy fans do for Harry Potter.

Thanks for the link to the community, if I turn into a crazed fan, you may see me there in the community when I have finished the books :-)
