LJ's been flaky lately. for a while there, my CSS div classes were being stripped from the div tags and my posts were all wonky. it seems like i've about given up on this thing, and with that incident... well, the PM still hasn't arrived in my inbox is all i can say.
SOA was interesting to me for a while but then became like just an ongoing soap opera. it's unrealistic as hell, which wreaks havoc on the 'ol suspension-of-disbelief thing. f'r instance, with the exception of "Bobby", they all ride the same model Harley -and even all have the same fairing. the bike life reality isn't like that. Sutter knows this, so i just don't get it. must be a reason for it, i guess. even so, there's other aspects as well that just undermine it for me completely. the Lorenzo Lamas 'Renegade' show... yeah, same sort of flaws.
i remember 'Then Came Bronson' too. it was good that they broadcast such a show, but it was sure cliche' and stereotypical...
basically, your average biker's real life dramas simply aren't worth the telling, imho. what is worth the telling is simply the Fun. swimming, running the streets for the hell of it, playing frisbee, just being out on the road in the city or country -and of course getting blasted and chasing girls. high-brow stuff like that. actually, the early 70's / late 60's exploitation films touch that stuff a good bit, as of course did Easy Rider quite a lot. SOA should, but i just don't think Sutter's a fun kinda person...
here's the reality; my bud Jimmy, on his very very old Honda 750 yellow chopper that's held together with ziplocs and bailing wire:
