We are rapidly heading towards the conclusion of year 3 of parenthood. I still don't believe in it. I believe in my daughter, mind you... I just don't believe that I am an actual, honest-to-goodness mother. I have a feeling SB will be graduated from college before I really buy into this crazy concept.
We have our first birthday party this Saturday for one of SB's friends. We've gone to child birthday parties for our friends, but not for hers yet. Hopefully, some of the other daycare parents who we've met at the holiday parties will be there. I'm not sure what one does as a parent at this type of thing.
She's started taking over "reading" the bedtime books. Some books she has memorized, but others end up as a charming, incoherent babble. Presumably it won't be too much longer before babble turns to actual reading.
To date, princesses have not yet entered our household. However, we are in full on purple butterfly fairy invasion courtesy of a confused saleswoman in Chinatown (we wanted a purple Chinese dress and the saleswoman only had a purple butterfly costume).
I am also on a one-woman crusade to raise awareness of female superheroines among SB's daycare peers. Captain America: Winter Soldier better result in some good, toddler friendly Black Widow merch!
This has also resulted in me learning that a superheroine named Squirrel Girl exists. SB and I were both delighted by this discovery. If anyone knows of good Squirrel Girl stories or cartoons, let me know. Sqirrelpocalypse!
