The creepy-ass-gremlin-type-thing carries weapons for uh... some evil lord or villain. After he was turned into the gremlin, he couldn't die, but feels pain like, a bazilion times worse, which means the huge gaping hole in his head and his right eye being sewn shut must've hurt like a female dog. Although, the hole comes in handy when the weapon sack is too full.
The poor guy in the giant's hand was peacefully mountain-climbing until he stupidly dropped his bag into a conveniently placed cave. Yeah, then he met the giant and was made to her lover-thing.
