Hi, guys - specifically, fellow fans of Lost! I was pondering the show recently, and came across one pattern that I saw in all the main characters. But, as I went through it, I noticed that it led to a strange detail about another one! Let me explain...
First, the pattern I realized is that all of the main characters, at the time they got on the plane, had some major regret about their life; they didn't like where they were, and it was their own doing. Here's a breakdown:
Jack: Issues with his father. More than that, as he boards the flight, his father is dead, and so he can never resolve the issues with him.
Kate: Caused the death of the man she loved by running from the law.
Charlie: His music career is washed up, and he's turned to drugs.
Sawyer: His desire for revenge has led him to kill an innocent man, and more than that, he got manipulated by a former friend into doing it.
Michael: He fought for so long to be Walt's father, and now that it's possible, he may not be able to handle it alone.
Walt: Taken from the family that he knows by a stranger claiming to be his real father.
Sun: In spite of the falling-out between her and Jin, she still loves him.
Jin: The price for marrying the woman of his dreams was higher than he could have imagined.
Claire: Stuck keeping her baby because some psychic said she "had to."
Locke: His condition had prevented him from fulfilling his lifelong dream, and his condition was caused by complications after he donated a kidney to his father.
Hurley: Can't accept that the numbers are mere coincidence, and sees himself as a jinx.
Sayid: Working with the US Government, he led a young friend of his to commit suicide. The reason he was on Oceanic flight 815 was to take his body for a traditional burial.
Boone: Unrequited feelings for his stepsister.
Shannon:
This is where the second revelation comes in. As I went through this list, I suddenly realized that we have not had a Shannon flashback at all yet! Could there be a reason for this? Especially because Shannon seems like the easiest character to understand, acting so shallow and prissy. I think there's a lot more going on there, and it should be something to pay attention to.
