Kyomoto Taiga x Tanaka Juri

Two sounds that resonate with each other

From the hot popularity of SixTONES, the pair that everyone, even themselves, recognizes to be the "exact opposites" appears. We hope that you will fully enjoy this breath of fresh air from their seemingly good relationship, and the charm between this pair in the group.

If you ask me what part I like about the new song, it's Juri's rap part

- Kyomoto

"I also do ¹electrics, but I like the calmness of the ²akogi" Kyomoto says. He currently owns 3 electric and acoustic guitars, and it's very important to him to spend time in playing music with his favorite acoustic guitar and piano.

Tanaka, on the other hand, can play the guitar to some extent though, but gave a wry smile as he hesitated to pose saying "It's my first time to touch a bass." He said that, recently, he's working exclusively on his ³pasokon to compose music and doesn't really touch musical instruments.

In order to prevent the infection of the new strain of corona virus, the interview with each of them was conducted alternately, but it was rather interesting because the difference between the two of them is clearly evident.

Speaking of these two, at Johnny's Jr. performance 4 years ago, each of them carried a guitar and did a ⁴konbi for a session of Kanjani8's "Eden".

KT : It was decided we will do it in pairs, and by chance, Juri and I both thought "Eden" is a good song and so we decided to play it. I am not in that level to show my guitar (*skills maybe?) in public, and Juri was a total beginner that time too. If I remember correctly, I took photos of the chord progression at hand and sends it.  This is G, then next is D... It's really like that lol. And then, who's the first, maybe me? I said let's buy a pink guitar (his member color), for the performance.

TJ : That's right, Kyomo said it first, then I said "Me too" and I bought a blue guitar. It's not that expensive though. It has been about a year since SixTONES was formed then, and I thought it was time to try everything we could do. I was ⁵fumbling. If it were now, I would never do such a difficult thing! lol Since I have not played it for a long time, can I play it again if I do special training? That's just as much as I can say. In SixTONES, the other one who can play the guitar is Jesse and... Kouchi can do the bass. If I were to play in a band, I would like to do something like ⁶RIZE. I will do the rap.

If you follow the example of Johnny's seniors, there is also a possibility that 2-3 unit songs will be included in the album in the future. Their thoughts about it were heartwarming.

KT : I don't know what the five of them think, but I think it's cool to pair up after each and every one of us has established a presence as an artist. That's why for the time being, I think it would be good if we could improve our abilities, talents, and various things individually, and that one day, the world of each one of us will come together.

TJ : Everyone can still do the skills they can do, so I don't feel much the merit of doing a pair other than planning it for the concert, so I definitely leave it out. Right now, we are 6 people. SixTONES' meaning will be nothing if we're not taken seriously (<- *sorry. not sure about this T^T). If we can see the merit of doing unit songs by the number of copies of CDs in the future, then we will do so at that time. That's what I personally think.

Looking at Tanaka while shooting a solo shot, Kyomoto smiled and said "That's right, a bassist's like that."

KT : I also want to play bass. I really like it's timbre and I notice when I listen to a band, I often follow the bass line. But I know it definitely doesn't suit me even before I try it. Because I can't keep a certain rhythm! lol But that's why I want to challenge myself and overcome my bad sense of rhythm.

The spirit to challenge the things he is not good at without being told by anyone. The endless hard-work of Kyomoto is about to be greatly praised.

TJ : The ability to show great effort without thinking of it as effort is a talent. I really think it's something I am lacking.

On this occasion, it's hard to say it right in front of someone's face. We asked them what they respect about each other as artists.

KT : I basically like rap. I like rock songs with rap lyrics, I also liked KAT-TUN's rap parts.  (During a live performance) I get to listen to Juri's solo song and the sound source (<- *not sure about this T^T), I enjoyed listening to the rap a lot. Even in NAVIGATOR (latest single), if you ask which part I like, I like the rap. It's sly, that "Tanaka Juri Time" ne.

To ⁷tsukkomi you, you also have a lot of appealing parts....

KT : ⁸Iya, the person in charge of the rap gets the point. The dance during the rap is the most difficult, however, he doesn't have to dance it! lol  When it was shown to us and we were told "I will now teach you the most difficult part", that time, Juri was exempted.  Isn't that unfair?!

TJ : Give me a break lol

KT : It's always like that! Recently, we've all noticed that the rap part is the most appealing lol. But the rap part is not suited for me. My voice is high so it will just become cute lol. That's why I admire Juri's rap voice skill...I'm more judgmental, huh. On TV, when someone says "Give a few words" Juri would say "Go Kyomo!" and put me out there. You can depend on him on making instantaneous decisions.

TJ : Do we know each other's areas, or do we kinda have a dry relationship and don't interfere with each other? I think that's a good thing. That's something that can be said about all the 6 members, especially Kyomo and me, the music and the way we grew up are completely different and it feels like we're from different worlds. But you know, I think it's cool when you look at Kyomo's solo. I'm also particular about production, and even from my zero knowledge of the song, the singing is good. There are a lot of people who's a lot better in singing than Kyomo, but not all skilled people can sell well. I think he and Jesse is the best in the whole world in singing songs, seriously. I respect one's will to carry what the other side may be lacking.

By the way, speaking of radio, SixTONES radio "All Night Nippon Saturday Special" (ANN) combitalk is also popular. Tanaka, who is a regular DJ, with other members appearing on a weekly basis, the taste of the program changes slightly every week.

TJ : I've been a member of the team for a long time, so no matter who comes, I don't change lol. But when 6 people becomes two, the number of mouths talking decreases, so I'm conscious that silence doesn't happen. For example, you can shift the direction of the conversation by filling it with meaningless words until the other person answers. But Kyomo talks a lot when it's the two of us lol.

KT : When there's 6 people, I'm resting? No no, that's not right! On radio and YouTube, if you raise the volume up and listen well, you'll understand, I'm talking you know! I'm just being drowned out lol, the reactions and ⁹aidzuchi are just the best. We have monsters called Jesse and Shintaro, also Hokuto is surprisingly a monster too recently, and Kouchi is always a standby character who's being made fun of, then the person who does the turns is Juri. The only role left is for the ⁹aidzuchi.

Also, in this program, "Jingle on Air Battle" is held every week with all members participating. Betting on air with self-produced interesting jingles, Kyomoto currently have 10 consecutive wins! (As of this interview was held)

KT : ¹⁰Nanka.... if there were no jingle battles during the remote period, I could've died because I can't be enthusiastic lol I'm really serious about it! I make sure to record it half a day or a day before listening to it again. Then, if it passes my review, I submit it. But Juri, he's really bad at jingles! I hope you'll give him a break lol  It's not only Hokuto who's really having fun right? lol

TJ : Yes, that's correct. I'm so bad at it lol. I don't come up with ideas like Kyomo, and honestly, during the restraining period, I might have more work to do with my head. Like in survey in magazines, videos and writing blogs. Even though I'm not the type to use my head lol. But being friends with radio staff, it became more and more fun each time. There is also a feeling that not only SixTONES fans but also ANN fans are listening. It's interesting to think that people who don't know my face might be listening to me on the radio.

Since it's a big deal (?), we asked them who are familiar with the nickname "KyomoJuri" to think of a new combi name.

KT : Let's focus on pink hair and gold hair.... if you mix pink and gold, it will look like rose champagne right? ¹¹Shanpakonbi! But if it's just "champagne", the originality is weak, hm, let's change the way it's written. SixTONES has a rule that "ix" is made small and only the uppercase letters are read, so "CHAMPAGNE"'s HAM will be left in "cHAMpagne", and it will be read as HAM! lol But if our hair color changes, we will break up lol

TJ : Hmm.. "Othello". It's the same with fair skinned and dark  lol, in Othello, there's this sense that opposite sides can never coexist. It feels like declaring to each other "I'm not going to be gray!" and it feels nice like we'll settle it once and for all.

The idea itself contrasts with Kyomoto, which mixes the two colors and sprinkles the SixTONES element, and Tanaka, who expresses the essential nature of not mixing them.

TJ : There may have been mutual respect because we are opposites and we do not want to imitate each other. It's not going to be an inferiority complex. Also, when I'm with Kyomo, I'm pretty good at taking care of him?! While the other party is good at being looked after lol
