Since it’s premiere in 2004 starring Takizawa Hideaki, the butai ‘DREAM BOYS’ has gained popularity as a gateway for younger Johnny’s. Sexy Zone’s Kikuchi Fuma was selected as the lead star of the latest stage. Joining him is SixTONES’ Tanaka Juri with the role of his rival. We asked these two people who have a close relationship with each other about their enthusiasm.
Kikuchi and Tanaka who were both born in 1995 also joined Johnny’s at the same time. These two people play such a rivalrous relationship.
Fuma: I was surprised when I first heard it. Juri and I didn’t have many chances to cross paths for work.
Juri: I used to be at the back in Fuma’s solo concert.
Fuma: That was something I personally requested. Didn’t the adults pick the two of us? It’s like putting two problem children in one class. (LOL)
Juri: Yeah. I would’ve never thought we would play as mains at the Imperial Theater.
Fuma: I’m sure Johnny-san in heaven was also surprised. We were told by Johnny-san that we’re ‘delinquents.’ (LOL)
Juri: Both of us appeared in DREAM BOYS in the past, right?
Fuma: Johnny-san told me, and then suddenly I was supposed to appear. This time, the role of Champ will be played by Juri.
Juri: As for me, I played Champ’s younger brother. I was still a high school student at that time, and didn’t know anything about the play. There happens to be a song that I harmonize with Kamenashi-kun, who stars in the lead role, and I remember Kamenashi-kun brought a guitar during rehearsals and taught me the song.
Fuma: The main characters were played by Takizawa-kun from the beginning, then Kamenashi-kun, Tamamori-kun, Yuma-kun, Kishi… It’s been played by royalties right?
Juri: How does it feel being lined up there?
Fuma: I’m finally joining Johnny's royalties…huh.
Juri: No way, that’s impossible (LOL)
Fuma: It’s not impossible! (LOL) But seriously speaking, as Johnny’s, I feel the pressure and responsibility.
Juri: At first glance, Fuma looks like a rascal, but he’s smart and is the type who thinks hard. I think that part of him is perfectly suited to be a successor of the role that Kamenashi-kun and the others played before.
Fuma: Juri is also a friend with passion, and I’m really into the role of Champ. I think he will surely deliver depth to Champ, more humane than ever before.

Juri: Fuma has been around since we were kids, so it’s fun to be together with him. During rehearsals though, please be careful to not escalate fooling around too much! (LOL)
Fuma: I know, right? (LOL)
Juri: Other than that, I don’t have other worries. I’ve been watching up close Fuma’s approach to work and his passion for a long time.
Fuma: Me, too. We have this burning passion in each other, so I’m happy that we can do DREAM BOYS together. Let’s make it a legendary stage that is 5 times or even 10 times more than we can imagine!
