OK, so I don't think this need to be said, but honestly when I'm taking care of Duncan I'm not doing my wife a favor. Changing diapers , getting up at 5:00 am when I went to sleep at 4:00, taking the fussy baby to swaddle and rock to sleep, it's part of being a parent, not a favor to my wife. The attitude that anything a man does is "extra" really dives me crazy. I was changing Duncan in a restaurant and a gentleman commented "your a good father" I know there are bad ones out there , I even know a few , but it still drives me crazy.
What would make a man not want to participate in his child's life? Is it fear , is it a question of manpower? At under 3 months there is not all that much a child can do, so being a part of the child's life means changing diapers and getting spit on. I know what the first shirt Duncan spit on was (A green golf shirt) the first cloth diaper (Darth Vader) ect. Maby I just don't get it.
