My knees hurt again a bit. I think it really might be from roller skating, but it's the rest of this place that won't let me heal.
I've been to the greenhouse twice already and seen some awesome stuff. Plus gotten to know the people there a little bit. Basically, all the volunteers are guys, and the only girls are researchers and staff. Everybody's nice. Everybody's a plant nerd, and guys talk less, which is for the best because I like focusing sometimes. Michael, Sean, Molly, Jeanette, and Doug, are the names I know. Today I pruned passion flowers. Scads of them. (I think scads is my new word cuz I have been overly-using it). And I divided & repotted a banana plant with Sean. Which did in fact need two people, because the thing is 12 feet high and you have to cut open the pot and saw through the tuber. It was really cool. Also...at the end I sorted through whitefly infested foliage to pick out and save the leaves that had "good bugs" on them. I was covered with little tiny white flies and there was no way to avoid squishing them when I touched the leaves and it made my hands sticky. Kinda gross, but not as bad as it sounds. I have a higher bug tolerance than I thought.
It's like being a little kid again. You play in the dirt with the creepy crawlies and the plants.
