Summer Trips and the weather

Jun 12, 2008 12:08

Leaving tonight for Anaheim with Mom, Aunt Cathy, Uncle David and Gabriel. Tomorrow is Disneyland! Then Saturday is chilling then going to an evening game at the ballpark of the Angels vs. the Braves. Sunday we finally trek home.

Next month is two trips. First I'll be at the beach for a whole week at the trailer, which I am uber excited for. Growing up, we'd stay at the trailer for two weeks at a time during July for numerous years. Now we seem to go for a few weekends and a week during the summer. It's a total bummer. The weekend after that I'll be on a plane heading to Austin to visit family. I've never been out to visit them at their homestead before, they've always come to visit us. It will definately be strange to do it, especially without Dad or Holly (it's the same group that is going to Disneyland this weekend), but I'm kind of looking excited for it. We got EXTREMELY CHEAP plane tickets (280 bucks!), we just have to take a detour to Salt Lake City and then down to Texas. But Texas in the middle of July? Oh, the heat. Glad I'm used to a variety of it.

We're finally getting hot weather. And I know probably some of you are going, "BUT OMG WE'RE GOING TO DIE HERE IT'S 90 DEGREES!" Hell, for the past month I don't think we've gone over 100 degrees here--and for June that's fucking amazing. We've had this kick-ass weather where we even in the evenings may pull on a sweater. It's criminally insane. Memorial Day? It was COLD! It is NEVER COLD here on Memorial Day. You ask any of the older folks, and they'll tell you it was one of the most peculiar Memorial Days we've ever had because it was 72 degrees. Usually that's the first weekend that we have where we can go swimming and it's perfectly hot outside. Oh no, it was cold and overcast all day. But now Summer is finally arriving here in good ol' Bakersfield. It's going to be 102 degrees for at least three days straight. Thank GOD I'm going to be in Anaheim where it looks to be in the 80s all weekend. I just really hope that with this cool weather we've had for so long (oh yes, in Bakersfield, 80-90 is cool/comfortable/warm) that Mother Nature doesn't come and kick us in the ass this summer. I still remember where we went over two weeks last summer where it was never under 100 degrees. And about 10 years ago we had a summer where every day for a week it was over 115 degrees.

I think maybe first we'll do Space Mountain, Autopia and then the Matterhorn. Then trek over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. :D Gosh I'm excited.
