So. I don't know if I really talked about this or not, but from around mid-October all the way to the 4th of December, I was in a long-term substitute position at one of the local high schools in town. The woman, Denise, went on maternity leave one month early due to complications from her pregnancy. They had in one long term sub, Tamara, but she could only stay in the limited 30 days. I went in and had to fill in the rest of the time. Of course, in all this time, I never even met the Principal or any of the Asst. Principals. The one who hired me, one of the Asst. Prins., I only talked to him on the phone. My first day there he didn't even talk to me sort of thing. The secretaries had to figure out where I needed to go, after I explained why I was there.
So today, my cell phone rings. It's the principal from the same school! He asks me if I'd like to sub slash long term sub slash possibly let the job turn into a full time position. Of course, I say. So he explains how one of the english teachers is going to be taking over for one of the counselors (who is out because of cancer), and they need someone to fill her position. He was worried, though, because he still hadn't gotten into contact with his Asst. Principal so he didn't know if certain things had already been set in motion. Which of course, makes me think, oh crap. I'm going to go down there, and they're going to send me home because they've already gotten someone. Then he asks me what I'm doing today...lol and I swear, this is how I respond, "Um, watching t.v.?" He outright laughed, told me "Oh, well aren't you important today?" And I laughed right back and told him, "Yes, yes I am." So I'm assuming from this that he's wanting to interview me. And then he asks, "Well, have you ever subbed at _____ High before?" And I wanted to say UM, yes doofus, but you never graced me with your presence, but instead I said, "Yes, sir. I was one of the long-term substitutes that you had in the classroom for Denise ______-_____." And then he goes, "Well, then! You're in. Come down on Monday." I just started to laugh. He guaranteed me at least Monday, but he said he couldn't guarantee more since he didn't know if the Asst. Principal had arranged anything yet, which worried me.
But it's good, in my opinion! It's the principal who called me to arrange it...so I'm crossing my fingers! It's sophmore college prep and general english. HOPEFULLY it's more CP than it is Gens. I really don't care for gens at all. We'll see! I've got to start somewhere!
And now I think I'm going to go see a movie. Preferably something mushy.
